Vampire Weekend is an American indie rock band from New York City formed in 2006 and signed to XL Recordings. Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, Rostam Batmanglij, and Chris Tomson formed the band after finishing up their studies at Columbia University. Vampire Weekend's name is derived from lead singer Ezra Koenig's amateur film of the same name.

Their debut album "Vampire Weekend" was released in January 2008. It was a success in the U.K. and U.S., peaking at #15 on the U.K. Albums chart and #17 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, eventually certifying gold. The single, "A-Punk" peaked at #25 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and #55 on the U.K. Singles chart, while "Oxford Comma" peaked at #38 in the U.K.

The band's second album "Contra" was released in January 2010 on XL Recordings. "Contra" made its debut at #1 on the Billboard 200. The album's single, "Cousins" reached #18 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and #25 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart. Other singles included, “Horchata,” “Giving Up the Gun” and “Holiday.”
