Carrie Underwood is still blowing away the competition at the top of the U.S. album charts after landing a second week on top with her new release "Blown Away".

The country star sold 120,000 copies of the album last week to maintain her strangle-hold on the Billboard 200.

She holds off Adele's "21", which was the only other release to sell over 100,000 copies last week. The megahit rises two spots to two on the new countdown.

Another former chart-topper, Lionel Richie's "Tuskegee", also jumps back up the chart to three, while the "Now 42" compilation falls a spot to four and Norah Jones'...

Country star Carrie Underwood has "Blown Away" the competition to debut her new album atop the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

The former American Idol champion shifted 267,000 copies of her fourth release, "Blown Away", in its first week in stores, making it the second-biggest album sales figure of the year. Only Madonna's "MDNA" sold more units in seven days in 2012, with 358,000 copies.

Singer Jason Aldean has dominated the second ever American Country Awards, taking home six out of eight trophies on Monday night.

The star won all but two of the prizes he was nominated for, including the prestigious Album of the Year and Artist of the Year titles. He also shared the collaborative Single and Music Video of the Year prizes with Kelly Clarkson for their duet Don't You Wanna Stay.

After taking to the stage for a second time, he told the audience, "This is getting a little ridiculous now. I don't know what else to say. It's been a crazy year."

Not only is Carrie gorgeous, she's also charitable. In October she returned to her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma, to help build a school playground. She set up the Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation in 2009 to help the local community.

Newlyweds Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were the toast of the Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday night after picking up the two top vocalist prizes.

Lambert, who married Shelton in May, was crowned Female Vocalist of the Year, while her new husband picked up the male equivalent at the star-studded Bridgestone Arena ceremony. Joking with Shelton, who opened the show by performing the Footloose movie theme with Kenny Loggins, as she picked up her prize, Lambert teased, "It's gonna be a good night, baby!"

Singer Carrie Underwood returned to her home city of Checotah, Oklahoma on Friday to help build a school playground.

The country music star joined more than 200 volunteers, including her mother Carole, at Marshall Elementary School for the project by her Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation, which she set up in 2009 to help the local community.

Underwood showed off her creative side by painting a mural at the school, as well as planting vegetation and helping with the playground assembly.

The musician took the top spot in the publication's list of the highest-earning stars in country music by earning an estimated $50 million between May 2010 and May 2011.

Keith's massive earnings are said to have come from his lucrative tour, sponsorship deals and his popular restaurant chain, putting him ahead of singer/songwriter Taylor Swift who came in at number two with estimated earnings of $45 million and Brad Paisley at three ($40 million).

It's been hard for me to talk about Season 2 auditions, because I haven't been at any of them (although Nakia did give some insight on the Houston round in a previous blog). That changed on August 30, when they arrived at the Los Angeles Forum. Now, I should note that this blog is going to be from the first person and not a news report...because I wasn't there to cover the auditions. I was there to audition.
