This time around the Learning Curve is mixing things up a bit, going from heavy to light and touching on almost everything in-between along the way. This is perhaps one of the more diversified columns I've put together but that doesn't mean the bands are any less talented.

Seriously though, this week has something for everyone. From frenzied post-hardcore like Stiletto Formal and La Dispute to party all night electronica like Innerpartysystem, to sounds like up-and-coming rock act Zillion and even a bit of hardcore with the next big thing in Buffalo, His Name Was Yesterday.

Wind-up Records and IMG Media have announced the release of the inaugural soundtrack for The World's Strongest Man franchise, airing on 2. The title will be available exclusively through Amazon upon release.

Mandeville, Louisiana-based quartet 12 Stones, signed to Wind-up Records, was filmed recently in Baton Rouge. The footage will be cut into the program to their song "Adrenaline" as the opener of each episode this season. Aaron Gillespie has been best known for his bone-crunching vocals and talent behind the drums in the Florida-based band, Underoath. Now, his newer project, The Almost, lets Gillespie put a different, more melodic side of himself on display. Essentially a solo effort, the project has evolved into a full band with Jay Vilardi (guitar), Dusty Redmon (guitar), Alex Aponte (bass) and Kenny Bozich (drums) rounding out the lineup. The debut album, Southern Weather, was released April 3rd via Virgin/Tooth & Nail and debuted at #29 on the Billboard 200.
