Lars Ulrich Pens Tribute To Hero Lou Reed

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has penned a tribute to late Velvet Underground singer Lou Reed in this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Ulrich worked with Reed on 2011 album "Lulu," a collaboration between the rock legend and the heavy metal legends, and counts the late singer as one of his biggest influences.

Lars Ulrich has heaped praise on a disabled fan who made a movie about his attempts to meet Metallica, calling the documentary "deeply moving".

Rock devotee Tom Spicer - who suffers from Fragile X syndrome, a condition which causes intellectual disabilities - teamed up with his journalist sister Kate to track down the metal band for the chance to talk to his favorite member, Ulrich.

The siblings recorded their efforts for poignant new film Mission To Lars, which the drummer has hailed as "a great testament to the importance of music."

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has no recollection of asking the wrestling icon Hulk Hogan to join the band, dismissing remarks the fighter made in January.

Hogan told The Sun newspaper that Ulrich had once asked him to play bass for the rockers, but claimed the idea "didn't work out."

Metallica Launching Two Day Music Festival

Rockers Metallica have launched their own music festival.

The Orion Music + More event will be staged at Bader Field in New Jersey on June 23rd - 24th and the band will headline.

A post on the Metallica website reads, "After many years of playing at legendary festivals around the world including Reading, Roskilde, Werchter, Rock Im Ring, Rock In Rio, Lollapalooza and countless others, we're hoping to spread the good times and diverse musical feel here in the States..."

Lou Reed has received a barrage of "threatening" letters from Metallica fans angry over his collaboration with the rockers.

The veteran musician teamed up with the group to record new album Lulu, but Reed admits many of the band's devotees are unhappy about the record and have sent him reams of unpleasant messages.

Metallica have reached out to fans in India after their concert debut in the country was scrapped, insisting they are "deeply disappointed" with the cancellation.

The rock group called off a planned concert at the Leisure Valley Park in Gurgaon on Friday, putting the cancellation down to "technical problems" and safety concerns after fans pushed through a barricade.

Metallica To Headline Indian Formula One Concert

Metallica are to play their first show in India.

The heavy rockers will headline the upcoming F1 Rocks concert in Uttar Pradesh on October 28 - two days before the inaugural Indian Formula One Grand Prix.

More than 30,000 fans are expected to pack into the Leisure Valley venue for the show and Metallica can't wait for the gig.

A statement from the band reads, "We're so excited to be playing a show in a place we never thought in our wildest dreams we'd get to play."

Previous F1 Rocks concerts in Brazil and Italy have been headlined by Eminem and Jamiroquai, respectively.

Metallica star Lars Ulrich has been hit with a lawsuit from his former personal assistant, alleging he failed to pay overtime.

Steven Wiig has filed papers in Marin Superior Court, California claiming he worked up to 70 hours a week while Ulrich was at home and up to 80 hours a week while the band was on tour.

He alleged he worked from 2001 until 2009 taking on duties including chauffeuring, managing the star's art collection, arranged scheduling and performing numerous errands on request, for which he received $45,000 a year, as well as an oral agreement for annual bonuses.

Metallica have issued a statement in a bid to get to the truth of a story suggesting a little girl was kicked into the audience at a recent concert in Australia.

The youngster, who is the daughter of the band's stage manager, took a tumble after guitarist Kirk Hammett accidentally kicked a beach ball at her and knocked her off balance.

Police in Bogot√°, Colombia failed to prevent riots at a Metallica concert on Wednesday night - more than 100 fans were arrested after violence erupted outside the venue.

Members of the nation's military were drafted in ahead of the gig in a bid to prevent trouble following reports the band's show in Santiago, Chile in January was marred by rioting. Israeli fans of Metallica have won their bid for cheaper tickets after staging a boycott of the group's May 22 gig in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The man behind the Ramat Gan stadium show - the band's first concert in Israel since 1999 - upset fans when he announced all tickets for the gig would sell for upwards of $159.

And more than 500 Metallica-mad music fans committed to boycott the concert as part of a campaign.

But Tomer Mussman and Rotem Horovitz, who sparked the protest, have now agreed to drop the boycott after coming to an agreement with promoter Marcel Avram.
