25 Most Underrated Songs Of 2015 (So Far)
Not every record ends up being a hit. In fact if you think about it, only a select few songs end up with the distinction of hit status. The songs featured on this list are terrific, but none of them have been profound in the commercial department. Arguably, the best way to describe these songs are ‘underrated’ – they are the ‘unsung heroes’ of the year as well as their artist’s respective album. All deserve the same respect if not more than the hits, but they can always bask in their critical acclaim. These are the most underrated songs of 2015…so far.

The underrated songs chosen are ...

Shawn Mendes Debut Album Is Tops

4/23/2015 9:25am EDT
Shawn Mendes Takes 'Handwritten' To No. 1 On The Billboard 200
Shawn Mendes wasn’t lying when he was singing “Something Big.” Surely he was anticipating his pending #1 album on the Billboard 200. That’s right Handwritten outperformed the competition to the tune of 119,000 units, most of which were album sales. Shawn Mendes, indeed is doing big things at a young age – he’s all of 16.

Mendes beat out more established artists who dropped new albums. Reba McEntire – a veteran by all means – settles for #3 with Love Somebody, moving a modest 62,000 units. As for Tyler the Creator, Cherry Bomb landed at #4, only producing 58,000 units. Interestingly...

Tyler The Creator's Fourth Studio Album

4/19/2015 2:30pm EDT
Review: Tyler The Creator Remains Unapologetic On ‘Cherry Bomb’
“Can’t a n***a get some f**king chaos in here? / I’m the truth and the dare / and you can get your a** beat like a kick in a snare!” Those unapologetic lyrics characterize twenty-something underground Tyler the Creator to a tee – he has no filter whatsoever. This remarkable boldness continues on his fourth studio album Cherry Bomb. Even so, Tyler also manages to tweak his formula, showing more artistic range than previous albums. Maybe Cherry Bomb isn’t the ‘bomb’ that Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, but there is plenty to celebrate about the LP.

“DEATHCAMP” initiates the albu...

Who Took The Top Spot On The Billboard 200 This Week?

4/16/2015 11:56am EDT
‘Furious 7’ Soundtrack Bests All Time Low For Top Spot On The Bi
It was a good week to be a soundtrack, specifically the soundtrack to Furious 7. After ascending to the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 last week, Furious 7 sits atop the charts this week. The improvement in units from the previous week are quite substantial – 111,000 units this week versus 74,000 the previous week. Making Furious 7’s ascent on the Billboard 200 is what the soundtrack did on the Billboard Hot 100, namely “See You Again.”

“See You Again” did the unthinkable – killed Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ vibe. How so? “See You Again” stopped “Uptown Funk” from breaking a tie for th...

Ah, another week which means new music to sink one’s teeth in. Much like last week, the cupboard isn’t exactly full – there’s few notable newbies. Here are four albums to check out this week.

Ranking the very best albums of any year is incredibly difficult; there are always misses. 2013 was filled with some triumphant musical moments, though not all of their parent albums were necessarily ‘worthy’ of being considered the best of the year. One thing’s for sure – the top ten to fifteen albums are pretty close to the cream of the crop from my perspective. Here are the 50 (+1) best albums of 2013!
