10 Best Hair-Band Frontmen In 80s Glam Rock

May 30th, 2014 1:00pm EDT
10 Best Hair-Band Frontmen In 80s Glam Rock
Of all the music hatched from the craziness that was the 1980's, none was more fun, frivolous and full of good times than the hair metal craze of the mid-to-late part of the decade. If this list had a title of, "So many hair bands, so little time," we could list each and every one, from RATT to Faster Pussycat to White Lion. But instead, we went for the guys who kept the fans motivated, the ladies excited and the hairspray companies in business. The front men, the men who lifted the band to soaring heights. Many of these men are still fronting the same bands today, some have come to a tragi...

Dee Snider Upset That VP Candidate Paul Ryan Used Twisted Sister Song

August 23rd, 2012 9:54am EDT
Dee Snider
Vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan used Twisted Sister's popular tune "We're Not Gonna Take It" during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania, and the band's singer Dee Snider isn't too pleased.

On Tuesday, Mitt Romney's Republican running mate reportedly blared the classic hit to pump up the crowd at a political rally. Snider heard about it and has launched a formal complaint with Ryan's camp.

Sinder said in a statement: "I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my band Twisted Sister's song 'We're Not Gonna Take It' in any capacity. There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with ex...

Dee Snider Rips Axl Rose Over Hall Of Fame Snub

April 12th, 2012 8:11pm EDT
Dee Snider
Twisted Sister star Dee Snider has slammed Axl Rose for snubbing his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, insisting the Guns N' Roses frontman is "screwed up".

Rose has written to officials at the Hall of Fame declining the induction and revealing he won't be attending Saturday's gala in Cleveland, Ohio - and his stand has annoyed rocker-turned-radio host and TV personality Snider.

Interviewing Rose's former bandmate Slash at the Revolver Golden Gods awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the "We're Not Gonna Take It" singer, said, "Someone just told me that it's official Axl is not gonna sin...

Q&A: Jesse Blaze Snider - A Rock Star Of Many Colors

January 23rd, 2012 1:40pm EST
Jesse Blaze Snider
Don't judge Jesse Blaze Snider solely by the fact that his father is rock legend Dee Snider.

In fact, don't judge him solely by the fact that he's also a musician. While he is in the family business, he's also a successful comic book writer (Dead Romeo, Hulk, Thor) and TV host (MTV2, Fuse and AOL's Top 11 Countdown). In between his many ventures, Jesse took the time to sit down with me and talk about growing up in the spotlight as well as making a versatile name for himself.

You're working on your first solo album right now. What can people expect from it?

I've been trying to kind of b...

File Under: Christopher Cross

Christopher Cross - Doctor Faith (Eagle): Doctor Faith, the first true solo album from Christopher Cross since 2000’s Red Room, shines when Cross does what he does best, the stuff he is known for – write simple, relatable love songs and sing them with his trademark, recognizable tenor that most of us know and love (“When You Come Home,” “November”), but when Cross, who had not released a full on solo album in ...

Slideshow: Hair Challenged Musicians - Who's The Worst?

One of the best things about being a rock star is that you don't have to stay in shape to be successful. You can be skinny and scrawny like Jimmy Page and Flavor Flav or you can be large and in charge like Meatloaf and Heavy D however, to have bad hair can be some what of a set back.

Here are some Musicians who have carried on, persisted and triumphed despite being follicly handicapped.

When you're done here, be sure to check out Male Musicians Who Look Like Girls.

CMT's 'Gone Country' Is Surprisingly Entertaining

February 11th, 2008 9:35am EST
Dee Snider
"Gone Country," a show in which mostly washed-up singers are resurrected as country stars, is the first show, to my knowledge, on CMT that I've watched in its entirety. I wouldn't call myself a country fan by any means, and at first glance this didn't seem like an appealing show at all. That was until I saw the lineup of goof balls that they had enlisted:

Dee Snider: He's the cross-dressing front man of Twisted Sister whose last major hit was over 20 years ago. I "met" him once in Chicago. He was going through a revolving door with me. I threw some metal horns at him with my hand...

Music Spotlight: 80s Hair Bands

January 2nd, 2008 10:15am EST
Twisted Sister
Hair. It's a four letter word that made a big impact on bands during the 80s. During that time, Aqua Net super hold hairspray was a household name and big-bodied hair was the goal for some rockers. Bands such as Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and Twisted Sister took big hair to a whole new level.

Short black locks and long blonde hair could only point to a band that doesn't follow the rules so well. Twisted Sister, fronted by Dee Snider, flaunted his thick, blond tresses during such anthems as, "We're not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock." Not only did he have big hair, his band...

Heavy Metal has long been a stigmatized musical genre characterized by aggressive rhythms, dark lyrics and satanic worship. “Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey” is a ground-breaking film that explores the history of how these stereotypes came to be and explains the motivation and truth behind the music through candid interviews with Metal icons including Rob Zombie, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickison, Geddy Lee of Rush, Alice Cooper, Slayer, Slipknot, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, Ronnie James Dio, Motorhe...
