Twisted SisterWe're Not Gonna Take It and Other Hits Release Date: 2003 10 10 Label: Rhino Flashback Rating: ![]() |
If it's a straight-to-the-point, bare-bones Twisted Sister collection you're looking for, then the budget-priced We're Not Gonna Take It and Other Hits is a go. But don't be fooled into thinking this is a thorough overview of this cross-dressing metal crew -- it only weighs in at a meager ten tracks in length. Still, there's no denying one important fact if you're a casual fan and just want the group's '80s-era MTV hits -- they're all here. Yes, all three of Stay Hungry's best-known tracks are included, the scream-along anthems "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock" as well as the surprisingly melodic "The Price" (which sees singer Dee Snider pondering if a career in music is "all worth it"). You'll also find the early favorite "You Can't Stop Rock & Roll," as well as what would turn out to be the group's last real hit song, a rockin' cover of the Shangri-Las' "Leader of the Pack." But collecting the group's strongest album cuts is where We're Not Gonna Take It and Other Hits falls flat. Such deserving cuts as "Under the Blade," "The Kids Are Back," and "Come Out and Play" are nowhere to be found, although the oft-overlooked "Tear It Loose" proves to be a nice closer for the set.
