At the beginning of the year, all anybody wanted to talk about was American Idol's new judging panel. After all, Simon was gone and this was one of the biggest casting shifts on a hit TV show since Darrin got replaced by Darrin on ‘Bewitched’.

R&B drummer Earl Palmer has died at the age of 84. The New Orleans-native died Friday at his Los Angeles home after fighting a lengthy illness, according to his spokesperson.

Palmer was known as a music pioneer amongst his peers, recording backbeats for classics including Little Richard's Tutti Frutti and The Righteous Brothers' You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'.

His talents have also been featured in music tracks for Ike and Tina Turner, jazz great Fats Domino, The Monkees, Neil Young and Frank Sinatra.

Palmer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

Amy Winehouse has turned to Buddhism to try and beat her drug and alcohol addictions, according to U.K. tabloid reports.

The Back To Black singer has faced a string of health issues over the last year and was rushed to hospital after collapsing at her house in London in July. The star was also diagnosed with traces of deadly lung disease emphysema.

Late R&B star Ike Turner died from a cocaine overdose, according to officials in San Diego, California. The musician, who was once married to Tina Turner, died on December 12, aged 76.

Soul star Ike Turner insists he has no complaints after police mistakenly arrested him on an outstanding drugs charge due to a computer glitch earlier this week. Veteran soul star Ike Turner is in police custody without bail in Los Angeles after cops pulled him over on suspicion of speeding and found he was wanted on an outstanding drugs charge. The 75-year-old, the former husband of singer Tina Turner, was allegedly clocked driving his Mercedes at 80 miles per hour and straddling lanes on the 405 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley at 11.45pm last night.
