Obie Trice Loses Mom To Cancer

Eminem's rapper pal Obie Trice is mourning the death of his mother following a battle with breast cancer.

Elanore Trice lost her fight against the disease on Tuesday.

In a statement issued to AllHipHop.com, the hip-hop star says, "My mom was always in my corner and her presence will be missed tremendously.

"I'm more determined than ever to ensure I not only impact the music industry but also my community, just as she expected."

Trice referenced his beloved mum in a number of his tracks, including 2003's "Don't Come Down," which featured on his debut album Cheers.

Obie Trice Owes More Than $298,000 In Taxes

Rapper Obie Trice is the latest star in trouble with tax officers after allegedly failing to pay more than $298,000.

Authorities at the Internal Revenue Service filed a $298,051 lien against the hip-hop star on June 21st in the Wayne County Register of Deeds in his native Detroit, Michigan. His father, who is also named Obie Trice, insists he knew nothing of his son's financial woes - but knows for certain the debts aren't his.

Trice, Sr. tells the Detroit News, "I know that's not me. I've never made that kind of money to get that kind of tax debt."

Obie Trice Recovering After Being Shot in Detroit

Shady Records recording artist Obie Trice is home recuperating after being shot on a Detroit freeway in the early morning on December 31st.

The shooting left Trice with a bullet lodged in his skull. He was treated and released on the same day at an area hospital, after doctors concluded that the position of the bullet in his head proved too risky for surgery. Further medical evaluation in the coming days will determine whether the bullet can indeed be removed at a later date.
