Thin Lizzy To Change Name Out Of Respect For Phil Lynott

October 11th, 2012 7:37pm EDT
Thin Lizzy
Rockers Thin Lizzy will no longer tour and record under the moniker out of respect for frontman Phil Lynott.

Co-founder Brian Downey, who formed the Irish act with the late Lynott in 1969, recently announced plans to head back into the studio with the remaining members and new lead singer Ricky Warwick to work on an album of fresh material - 29 years after their last release.

However, The Boys Are Back in Town hit-makers, who are currently on tour, have decided to retire the band name at the beginning of 2013 as a tribute to Lynott, who died in 1986.

In a post on the band's Facebook.c...

News of the trove, which is said to contain around 700 songs recorded between 1971 and 1981, emerged earlier this month and now Lynott's former Thin Lizzy bandmates and bosses at Universal Music are sifting thro...

It's Summertime: A List of Great Summertime Songs

June 19th, 2009 12:32pm EDT
Billy Joel
Like Corrine Bailey Rae sang, "Go put your records on." The song of the same title is the perfect piece of advice for summer. Sunday marks the official first day of summer, and in case you need some new songs for those trips to the beach, barbeques, and even for still being stuck at work, here's our picks for the best summer songs.

The Beach Boys, "Come and Go With Me" (1978) - No group better embodies the spirit of summer than The Beach Boys, so picking just one of their songs isn't an easy task. Rather going for the more obvious, kitschy beach themed songs like "Surfin' Safari," "Calif...

Goofy Rock Names

May 30th, 2008 8:58am EDT
Meat Loaf
There are lots of bizarre, random band names in the history of rock and roll, like the Strawberry Alarm Clock, the Smashing Pumpkins, and the Electric Prunes, and it may have been a little embarrassing to say "I'm a member of The Electric Prunes." But, would you be willing to say, "I am the Electric Prune?"

Here at Starpulse, we would like to pay tribute to the individuals who have the courage to sign his/her checks, or introduce him/herself at a parent teacher conference with one of the below listed names.

10) The Edge: It's kind of a cool name when you think about it. Not Ed...
