Last week, July got a bit of a spark with pop-punk band 5 Seconds of Summer releasing their highly anticipated, self-titled debut. Midwest rapper Common would also drop his tenth album, Nobody’s Smiling.

This week, there seems to be no sure-fire bet like 5 Seconds of Summer, but there are some veteran artists leading the charge for the new releases. Those include Eric Clapton, Tom Petty (& The Heartbreakers of course), and the late, great James Brown. Here are five new albums to check out this week.

Rev Theory & Gavin Rossdale To Perform As Part Of Auto Club 500 Festivities

Rev Theory, currently on tour with Theory of a Deadman and Ten Second Epic, will perform Saturday Feb. 21 and Sunday, Feb. 22 in the Auto Club Speedway FanZone as part of the festivities surrounding the Auto Club 500 Weekend - the West Coast Premiere of NASCAR for 2009.

Rich Luzzi, Julien Jorgensen, Dave Agoglia, Matt McCloskey and Ricky Lixx will rock the stage with their signature hard rock music at a post race concert Saturday (Feb. 21) in the Auto Club Speedway FanZone following the Stater Bros. 300 Spring Cup series Auto Club 500.

Staind Back On Tour

Staind is back on the road with a new series of live dates in support of their latest #1-charting album, "Chapter V" (click for review). The itinerary follows the multi-platinum band's recent "Fall Brawl" cross-country tour, which also featured Atlantic labelmates P.O.D. and Taproot.

The Massachusetts-based band kicked off the trek on January 29th at Philadelphia's Electric Factory (see attached itinerary). The headline dates continue across the country through a February 19th show at the Myth in Minneapolis. Support for all dates will come from Theory of a Deadman and Loser.
