The Shamen were an experimental electronic music group that formed in the 1980's in Aberdeen, Scotland, by Colin Angus who was born in 1961, Derek McKenzie, born in1964, Keith McKenzie, born in 1961, and Peter Stephenson, born in 1962. The Shamen were a psychedelic indie rock band that managed to crossover into the dance/rock music scene. The group released their debut album in 1987, “Drop” and received favorable airplay by the famous U.K. DJ John Peel. This album demonstrated The Shamen’s love of ‘60’s psychedelia.
