The Selecter are a Two-Tone ska revival band from Coventry, England, who formed in mid-1979 when Neol Davies, John Bradbury, and trombone player Barry Jones, recorded a track in a recording session in 1977 that resulted in the song, "Kingston Affair." Like other ska bands of their time, The Selecter sang about issues that were politically driven around the Thatcher era, and of multicultural inclusivity. The band was one of the most successful ska bands of the Two-Tone era in Britain, and gave a voice to a disaffected youth across the racial divide.
