The Johnson Mountain Boys was a bluegrass band from Washington, D.C., who was at the height of its success during the 1980s. The band released ten albums together and toured extensively. Throughout their career the band accumulated a number of Grammy Award nominations, International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, and awards from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America. The band originated in 1975 calling themselves, "The Johnson Boys,” and consisted of Dudley Connell on banjo, Ron Welch on guitar, and Eddie D'Zmura on mandolin.
