The Incredible String Band was a psychedelic folk band that formed in Scotland in 1966 and disbanded in 1974. The band reformed in 1999 and continued to perform until 2006. The band’s roots can be traced back to the musical partnership of Robin Williamson and Clive Palmer who were performing together as a traditional folk duo in Edinburgh in the early 1960s. The duo was spotted in 1965 by a rep for Elektra Records. Mike Heron joined the duo on rhythm guitar and the trio called themselves The Incredible String Band.
