Girl in a Coma frontwoman Nina Diaz sings, "Oh, I feel so alive," on "Baby Boy," a track from the trio's new album 'Trio B.C.' (out 6/2 on Blackheart Records). A couple of minutes with this pummeling 13-song epic, and you'll know that she isn't fooling around.
Nina spills her guts on 'Trio B.C.'; the intensity of her voice is matched only by her ferocious guitar playing. The rhythm section doesn't hold back, either. Nina's sister, Phanie, is on drums, and Phanie's childhood friend, Jenn Alva, plays bass.
Nina may wear her heart on her sleeve, but the band's influences are sub...

Cake To Release 'B-Sides And Rarities' This Spring; Live Disc Due In Fall
Cake formed in Sacramento, California in 1991. The band quickly became a hot item in the downtown club and cafe scene, then went on to gain a steady following in San Francisco's Bay Area. Lead singer John McCrea's unwitting amalgam of Jonathan Richman, David Byrne, and Woody Guthrie, backed by Cake's shambling countrified funk, took Northern California by storm. To date, Cake has toured extensively throughout the world including North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Japan.

Starr began making her presence felt around 1995 with edgy visual arts, graffiti, rhymes, outspoken race and gender politics, decidedly unorthodox performances, stunning good looks and envelope-pushing recordings. This combination earned her a well-deserved and devot...
