Our 2nd Edition Of Passionate, Heartfelt Songs

10/18/2015 11:00am EDT
Incredibly Heartfelt Songs Of 2015, Vol. 2
Where would music be without passionate, heartfelt songs? Sad – that’s what it would be! Each passing year brings an assortment of heartfelt songs that resonate with the listener in some form or fashion. Even with plenty of novelty and nonsensical songs on the radio (looking at you “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)”), people still enjoy the depth of a song about love, pain, and varying other emotions.

With so many heartfelt tunes in 2015, another list – arguably a more unsung one – was necessary. If you haven’t already checked out Volume 1, then you’re missing out! The good thing is that there’s no...

Music Artist Who Were In A Bad Place When Writing These Songs

17 Most Depressing, Gloomy And Morbid Songs
OK, OK! There's no sugarcoating it! These songs totally SUCK….THE LIFE RIGHT OUT OF YOU! Well not literally, but metaphorically. Basically, these songs are gloomy, sad songs that definitely won’t lift your spirits. So if you’re already sad yourself – you may want to save this downer for a happier day.

1) Nina Simone, “Strange Fruit” (The Essential Nina Simone, 2003)

“Strange Fruit” satisfies all three characteristics necessary to make this playlist – it’s truly depressing, gloomy, and morbid. The morbid aspect is the most disturbing as the “Southern trees / bearing strange fruit / b...

How Did Mumford & Sons New Album Perform?

5/14/2015 10:09am EDT
Mumford & Sons Take ‘Wilder Mind’ To No. 1 On Billboard
Unsurprisingly, Mumford & Sons cruised to a career second #1 album with Wilder Mind. Despite retooling their banjo-heavy style, plenty of people still joined the British band’s party – 249,000 to be exact, with most of those equating to copies sold. Go back three years earlier when Babel and mad banjo were still thriving, and the numbers were loftier to the tune of 600,000. Still, given the new normal of album sales and a new way to calculate the overall impact of an album, Mumford & Sons performed well.

It wasn’t all about Wilder Mind contrary to popular belief (or the majority of s...

New Album Releases To Check Out This Week

Mumford & Sons Leads Albums To Check Out
April was a slower month for new album releases across the board. It wasn’t quite like “watching paint dry,” but there was an absence of blockbuster releases with staying power. A perfect example of the lack of staying power – Shawn Mendes’ Handwritten debuted at #1 and proceeded to fall to #17 the following week. May is much more promising from the jump, as there are many notable releases dropping on an off-cycle May 4 (Monday) release date. Leading the charge is Mumford & Sons, but they are by no means the sole attraction this week.

1) Mumford & Sons, Wilder Mind (Glassnote)

10 Deceptively Written Songs

10 Deceptively Written Songs
Some songs just aren’t intended for literal interpretation. Some of the best-written songs are actually best interpreted figuratively. The 10 songs gracing this list are written cleverly, in a deceptive fashion. In other words, the lyrics (and sometimes title) transcend what’s literally being said. These 10 aren’t ‘classic’ examples – all are contemporary – but, the figurative, deceptiveness is definitely notable.

1) Hozier, “Take Me To Church" (Hozier, 2014)

Sure, the biblical book Song of Solomon is something else, but it’s highly doubtful that Hozier’s “Take Me To ...

In a post on his page, Tech N9ne writes, "Don't ever break, crack, or bruise a rib 'cause breathing hurts! But they gave me Percocet so it les...
