Last night's London Olympics closing ceremony included performances by The Who, the reunited Spice Girls, Muse, One Direction and Queen guitarist Brian May.

Composer David Arnold and Kim Gavin's "A Symphony of British Music" extravaganza kicked off with Scottish singer Emeli Sande performing "Read All About It" to a stadium packed with fans.

Madness, the Pet Shop Boys, One Direction and The Kinks frontman Ray Davies also performed before the 10,800 athletes of the Games marched into the arena.

Adele's amazing 2012 has just reached new heights - she has landed 18 nominations for the upcoming Billboard Music Awards.

The multiple Grammy winner, who was named among Time magazine's most influential people earlier this week, will compete for the Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist trophies among others.

Rihanna, LMFAO, Lil Wayne and Katy Perry are also nomination leaders for the prizegiving ceremony, which will take place in Las Vegas on May 20.

Simon Cowell is considering axing his U.K TV hit The X Factor if ratings continue to fall.

The music mogul abandoned the British version of the show to take the concept Stateside, leaving the panel in the hands of Take That star Gary Barlow, who was joined by fellow panelists Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh.

U2's 360 world tour was the highest-earning trek of 2011, according to newly released statistics.

The rockers' series of concerts, which began in 2009, grossed $293 million across 44 shows this year, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Bon Jovi, who were the highest-earning act in 2010, took second place with earnings of $192 million for their 68 shows across 2011.

Take That's Progress tour, in which original member Robbie Williams rejoined the line-up, was the third highest-grossing trek, with $187 million taken across the European shows.
