Steve Goodman was born July 25, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois and was a Grammy Award-winning folk singer and songwriter. Goodman is known for his song, “City of New Orleans,” which was made popular by famed musicians Arlo Guthrie and Willie Nelson. Goodman was drawn to music at an early age and began performing his own songs as a teenager. By the time he was in college he had formed a rock cover band, “The Juicy Fruits,” with Ron Banyon and Steve Hartmann. Goodman's songs first appeared on “Gathering at The Earl of Old Town,” an album produced by Chicago record company Dunwich in 1971.
