Adele In Talks To Star As Dusty Springfield In New Biopic

British singer Adele is reportedly in talks to play the role of country music icon Dusty Springfield on the big screen.

The Oscar-winning singer is rumored to star as the late singer in a film that is tipped to be penned by Boardwalk Empire Screenwriter David Stenn.

A source told Daily Mail newspaper: "There's a project and it's true Adele is attached, but it's in an early stage of development."

Adele has previously cited Dusty's work as among her biggest influences; however, a spokesman for the star has refused to issue comment on the speculation.

Move over Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna. Queen of soul Aretha Franklin's "I Never Loved A Man The Way I Loved You" has topped a new poll to find the greatest albums released by female artists.

Franklin's 1967 breakthrough album beat out challenges from Joni Mitchell's "Blue" and "Dusty in Memphis" by Dusty Springfield to claim the number-one spot in Rolling Stone magazine's new countdown.

Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours," featuring the talents of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie, also made the top five, as did Patti Smith's "Horses."

'Mad Men' Producers Pull Dusty Springfield Song From Upcoming Episode

Mad Men bosses have pulled Dusty Springfield's Burt Bacharach-penned tune "The Look Of Love" from the fifth season premiere of the hit drama - after realizing the song is out of time.

TV critics pointed out the timing error, explaining the Springfield tune wasn't released until six months after the events of the episode, which airs in on Sunday.

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner says, "Although we take license for artistic purposes with the end-title music, we never want the source music to break from the time period we are trying to recreate."
