Sonic Youth Get Stolen Guitars Back After 13 Years
Two guitars stolen from Sonic Youth's truck 13 years ago have been found.
The band was left devastated on July 4th, 1999 when a vehicle housing its collection of one-of-a-kind modified touring gear, including drums and guitars, was stolen in Orange County, California. The truck was later located in Los Angeles, but the equipment was missing.
Fans of the group have helped discover several items from the raid over the years, and guitarist/singer Lee Ranaldo reveals to music website Pitchfork.com that two other pieces have recently been found.

'Gossip Girl' Recap: It's A Boy, A Wedding & Sonic Youth
While wedding season may be behind us, Gossip Girl tried to bring some ceremonial bliss to the Upper East Side. But, first things first, there was some relationship drama that needed to be sorted out before anyone could have a 'happily ever after.'

Have You Heard? Always April
As a self professed cross between Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, The Pixies, Fugazi and Incubus, Arkansas' Always April certainly have a shroud of mystery around them. Their glam tinged fuzz rock has a special sound to it, something that is almost impossible to pinpoint.
Perhaps it has something to do with the way the band just puzzlingly formed.
"We have all been playing music in different bands most of our lives and all have come from different big cities around the nation to Salem, Arkansas for completely different reasons," the band states. "We met by sheer coincidence within a two w...

Have You Heard? Postcode
"I guess it's 'alternative rock,' whatever that means," says Postcode guitarist Mikie Daugherty of the bands' music. "It's loud, quiet, beautiful, dischordant, melodic." Daugherty goes on to say, "I think we're pretty varied, hopefully you couldn't accuse us of having a bunch of songs that sound the same. We've been compared to bands like Sonic Youth, The Pixies, The Breeders and P.J. Harvey."

READ MOREAARP Tour: Bands That Shouldn't Be Touring Anymore
Sometimes it seems like a band just doesn't know when to quit. Just imagine how many times you've heard some classic rock DJ try to pawn off front row tickets to Steely Dan, or how many advertisements you've seen for a free REO Speedwagon show at the naval base followed by fireworks and the Glen Hill retirement community brass band. While I'll admit that the willingness of these groups to play every major outdoor amphitheater each summer showcases their tenacity, it doesn't exactly work wonders for their dignity. After a while, playing to half-empty audiences of drunken suburbanites has to ...

Top 10 Albums Of The 80s
When I first comprised this list, I had all the usual suspects: Thriller, Closer, Daydream Nation, Purple Rain - you know, the albums you see on every other top 10 list for the 80s.
I got about four or five albums when something told me to go back and actually listen to "Thriller" again, from start to finish. Then I listened to Bad¸ Michael Jackson's follow-up, and it became clear that record sales alone doesn't make an album the greatest. Don't believe me? How do you feel about Britney Spears' Oops...I Did it Again - no? You sure? All righty, then.

Thurston Moore: 'Yoko Ono Edgier Than Today's Artists'
Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore has hit out at Avril Lavigne and John Mayer, insisting 70 year olds rock harder than they do.
The rocker recently collaborated with Yoko Ono, and claims she is edgier than most modern artists.
He tells Spin magazine, "I am playing with Yoko Ono, and she's well past 70 and she rocks. Neil Young rocks. It's certainly not John Mayer or Avril Lavigne. Those people don't rock. If that's the young generation in the culture, then (forget) it. In the underground, the old guys are cool. I like the fact that the older we get the more we can rock."
