Eddie James House, Jr., was born on March 21, 1902 in Clarksdale, Mississippi and was a blues singer and guitarist, who rose to fame for the emotionality that emanated in his voice when he sang and his style of playing slide guitar. House's love for music began in his local church where he was part of the choir, eventually becoming a preacher and a church pastor; he honed his musical skills in church. House was also born into a musical family, with his father being a musician, and playing the tuba in a local band with his brothers.
