Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody Lands 'Game Of Thrones' Cameo

Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has filmed a cameo in hit TV series Game Of Thrones.

The singer took to his Facebook.com page on Monday to share a photograph of himself in his medieval costume after shooting an appearance in the fantasy drama.

He wrote, "So I did my scene this morning for Game Of Thrones. I looked like this. Can't say much - just it's no pivotal role. Fun!"

Game Of Thrones recently picked up a host of Emmy Award nominations and stars Peter Dinklage, Charles Dance, Aidan Gillen and Alfie Allen.

Drummers Unite For Sudan

Rockers from bands including Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Snow Patrol have teamed up to help prevent any more bloodshed in Sudan.

Drummers from the groups are taking part in the Beat for Peace campaign, a film which calls for an end to conflict in the African country after millions died in the civil war there, which ended in 2005.

The documentary, which is part of the wider Sudan365 campaign, features the musicians alongside other artists from Sudan, Australia and Japan.

Pop sensation Lady Gaga has been crowned as Queen of the iPod age - she is the most downloaded artist in the history of Britain's official chart.

In the five years since downloads were counted towards sales figures in the U.K., the quirky dance star has seen two of her hits make the top five biggest sellers list.

Poker Face was the most downloaded track, with the star's debut Just Dance coming in third. Kings of Leon were also one of the most successful acts in the chart - Sex on Fire was in second place, while follow-up Use Somebody came in fourth.

Snow Patrol rocker Gary Lightbody has blasted the prison sentence handed to Scandinavian music pirates - insisting fans are welcome to download his songs for free.

The four founders of website The Pirate Bay were convicted in Sweden this month and sentenced to a year in prison after they was found guilty of breaching copyright laws. They were also ordered to pay $3.48 million in damages to a number of entertainment companies whose material they pirated.

Snow Patrol rocker Tom Simpson has missed a second court appearance on charges of cocaine possession. The keyboard player was detained by police on July 7, just hours after performing at the London leg of Live Earth, for missing a previous hearing.

He was subsequently released and ordered to face the drug charge - dating back to an arrest in Glasgow in June 2006 - on July 31.

Snow Patrol's keyboard player Tom Simpson performed with the band at Scotland's music festival T in the Park, despite his arrest on Saturday. It was thought Simpson would have to be replaced for the band's set at the event on Sunday- but he was released in time to play the headlining set.
