Smith Westerns are an indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois comprised of frontman Cullen Omori, bassist Cameron Omori and guitarist Max Kakacek. All of the members in the band were between the ages of 18-20 when the group was founded.

Their self-titled debut album was released on HoZac Records in June 2009. Most of the lo-fi album was recorded throughout the winter and early spring in Kakacek's basement.

They released a single, "Weekend," in November 2010, from their album “Dye It Blonde,” which was released in January 2011 on Fat Possum Records. The album, which also features the single “All Die Young“ was recorded with Chris Coady who previously worked with Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and TV on the Radio. It reached #18 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and #114 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
