Rapper Beanie Sigel Sentenced To Two Years In Prison

Rapper Beanie Sigel has been sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion.

The 38 year old, real name Dwight Grant, was accused of failing to file his federal income tax returns between the years 2003 and 2005, allegedly racking up $348,077 in back payments, and he pleaded guilty to the charge earlier this year.

On Thursday, he appeared in court in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and was ordered to serve 24 months behind bars.

Grant is due to begin the sentence on September 12, and his attorney, Fortunato N. Perri, insists the star is just looking forward to putting the past behind him, ...

Rapper Beanie Sigel is facing three years behind bars after pleading guilty to tax fraud.

The hip-hop star, real name Dwight Grant, is accused of owing $350,000 in back taxes from earnings taken in from 2003 to 2005.

At a Pennsylvania court on Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to the charge of failing to report his $1.5 million income.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on November 18 and faces up to three years in jail.

Rapper Beanie Sigel has slammed his former record label boss Damon Dash, sensationally accusing the music mogul of stealing $11 million from him.

The hip-hop star, who was previously signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, the company founded by Jay-Z and Dash, claims he was unaware of the alleged discrepancy until his lawyer brought the matter to his attention.

Rapper Beanie Sigel is facing criminal charges for alleged tax fraud in his native Pennsylvania.

Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia allege the hip-hop star, real name Dwight Grant, made $1.5 million from 2002 to 2004, but failed to fill in tax returns, according to court documents filed on Tuesday.

Rapper Beanie Sigel has been arrested and charged with drug possession after police found marijuana in the car he was traveling in.

The star, real name Dwight Grant, was traveling through Wrightstown, New Jersey, on the way to perform at a private event at the area's Kelly's Bar when police officers pulled over his vehicle.

According to the local Burlington County Times newspaper, Sigel and two other men riding with him in the car were charged with marijuana possession and have since been released.

He was forced to cancel the scheduled gig.

A little known New York rapper will portray slain star Notorious B.I.G. in a biopic of the late hip-hop icon's life. Producers Fox Searchlight - who wanted to avoid recruiting a well-known name - picked Brooklyn-based Jamal Woolard out of 100 hopefuls for the film, which will document the tragic rapper's childhood, his rise to fame and his untimely 1997 death in a Los Angeles drive-by shooting.

Directed by George Tillman Jr., the film - entitled Notorious - goes into production later this month and is set for release in January 2009.

Prosecutors have withdrawn stolen car charges against rapper Beanie Sigel after accepting the fuss was all a big misunderstanding. The rap star, real name Dwight Grant, was charged with stealing a rental car when he failed to return the vehicle on time last month.

Rapper Beanie Sigel has joined the race to play Notorious B.I.G. in a new biopic about the slain rap superstar. Chubby reggae star Sean Kingston made it clear he was a favourite for the coveted role last month, but now Sigel - real name Dwight Grant - has revealed he has auditioned for the part.

He tells MTV News, "Who else better to play that role, man? I know how much passion I'd put into it. I know how far I would go. I would treat that like Jamie (Foxx) did Ray."

Kanye West has attacked rap rival Beanie Sigel after he accused him of being gay and urged him to "come out of the closet." Sigel criticized West's dress sense during a recent radio interview, and suggested his Roc-A-Fella labelmate was a homosexual.

The "Gold Digger" hitmaker used an interview with Hot 97 DJ Angie Martinez to hit back, describing the comments as "so disrespectful."

Rapper Beanie Sigel was shot twice in an attempted robbery this morning.

The 32-year-old - real name Dwight Grant - was hit in the upper-right arm as he sat in his car at an intersection in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at around 7.10am.
