Diddy's Former Protege Shyne Is Now An Orthodox Jew

Shyne, the rapper who was convicted for his part in an infamous New York nightclub shooting, has become an orthodox Jew.

The Belizean-born hip-hop star served almost nine years of a 10-year sentence for opening fire at a 1999 party, where Diddy and his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were among the guests.

The couple fled after the shooting and, as a result, became entangled in the legal battle which eventually landed Shyne behind bars.

Incarcerated rapper Shyne has denied he was in contact with Sean 'Diddy' Combs while he was behind bars - insisting he would only converse with the hip-hop mogul if he "did the right thing" for the victims of his shooting case.

Shyne, real name Jamal Barrow, is currently being held in a Federal immigration detention center following his release from Woodbourne Correctional Facility in New York on Tuesday, where he served more than eight years following a 1999 shooting.

Jennifer Lopez will not be forced to testify in a lawsuit filed against her ex Sean 'Diddy' Combs over his involvement in a 1999 New York club shooting.

The singer/actress was dating the hip-hop mogul at the time of the incident, and was present at the now-defunct Club New York when shots were fired in the venue on December 27th 1999, injuring two people. Combs' rap protégé Shyne, real name Jamal Barrow, is currently serving a 10-year jail term after he was found guilty of assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession in the trial following the shooting.
