'The Voice' Season 8 Premiere Recap: Adam's Terrible Day
The Voice is back (not that you missed it; it only went away two months ago!). And while the focus is on the return of original coach Christina Aguilera, there are plenty of other storylines in season eight.

Like can anyone derail Blake Shelton and the seemingly indomitable country voting block? Will Adam Levine continue to have his mojo when it comes to snagging four-chair artists? And how many wise words will Pharrell Williams come up with this season?

After another rocking performance from the coaches, who team up on Lenny Kravitz's hit "Are You Gonna Go My Way" with some really distra...

'Saturday Night Live' Season 40, Episode 12 Recap: Blake Shelton

1/25/2015 11:20am EST
Saturday Night Live
The last time a male country music star hosted “SNL,” the results were a lot more interesting. The thing is, Tim McGraw has much more acting experience than Blake Shelton, and thus he was a lot more comfortable branching out from his country persona than Shelton was in this episode. “The Voice” judge mostly stuck to variations of himself or generic roles. This was fine for ensuring a show that ran smoothly, but it also prevented his appearance from being a truly memorable one.

Inside the NFL – This take on the New England Patriots deflated ball scandal made the weird decision of focus...

Blake Shelton Calls Himself 'The Justin Bieber Of Country Music'
Blake Shelton took over hosting duties on "Saturday Night Live" and quickly set himself apart from the pack of other country superstar hosts such as Taylor Swift and Dolly Parton.

"The Voice" stated in his opening monologue.

"Yes I have been drinking. For those of you that don't know my work I am kinda like the Justin Bieber of country music. Just a trouble-making cutie," he said.

"I have to say that I do feel like a fish out of water here in New York City as everything is so fancy. The only comedy show I watched growing up was 'Hee Haw,'" Shelton explained.

Shelton then threw an improp...

Who will be the lucky singer to get a second chance and which five will go home for good? Here's what happened on Tuesday night.

Team Pharrell: Ricky Manning (turned 2 chairs in blind auditions) vs. Brittany Butler (2 chairs), "On Broadway"

'The Voice' Recap: Which Coach Has The Only Steal Left?
We're now halfway through the first set of battles on The Voice, with Monday having brought us six more head-to-head matchups and three more steals as Blake Shelton informs Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams that to win the competition, one must upset Adam Levine. On that moment of Zen, here's what went down in part three of the battles.

Team Adam: Damien (turned 4 chairs in blind auditions) vs. Kelli Douglas (3 chairs), "Knock On Wood"

Christina Aguilera is heading back to The Voice for its next season.

The show's host, Carson Daly, who also stars on NBC's "Today" as the show's social correspondent, made the announcement during the morning show on Tuesday, and NBC exec Paul Telegdy confirmed the news via a statement.

Team Pharrell: Taylor Phelan (4 chairs in blind auditions) vs. Jordy Searcy (3 chairs), "Breakeven"
Pharrell has selected this pairing because he wants to hear indie-pop and rock converge, which is also why he's picked this Script song that longtime fans may remember when season one's Xenia Martinez covered it. Taylor struggles with the falsetto, causing hi...

10/9/2014 11:13am EDT
Blake Shelton
When the Billboard issue their chart prognostications last week, it was suggested that Blake Shelton had a solid shot at his second career #1 album. That said, that forecast would become cloudy thanks to one Barbra Streisand, who was projected to be competitive in the race for the top spot once again. Fellow country artists Lady Antebellum were considered to be likely third place. Things didn’t complete go as expected.

Blake Shelton indeed topped the Billboard 200, selling a more robust than expected 101,000 copies of Bringing Back The Sunshine. While prognostications had allotted 90...

'The Voice' By The Numbers: Were Season 7 Auditions Easier?
Last night's episode of The Voice was a clip show, but that's not stopping us from offering a little insight. You see, we sort of felt things were getting a little easier this season, so we decided to do the math and find out. We compared statistics from season seven's blind auditions to those from a year ago - season five - and to those from the first season to set a Top 48, season two, way back in 2012. So is it easier to get on The Voice now than it was before? Which coach is the toughest to win over? Here's what we uncovered.

A note before we begin: obviously, we're comparing statistic...

On September 22, "The Voice" will return with judges Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams. Being the only lady on the coaching panel is tough, but Stefani will have some familiar help in the form of her husband, Gavin Rossdale.

In the second stage of the competition, Rossdale's mentoring could prove useful to get Team Gwen where it needs to be. 'The Voice': 5 Soundbites From The Top 8
The Voice dropped a bombshell on Monday night, and we're not referring to Adam Levine's change of hair color. Host Carson Daly revealed on-air that to get things down to the right number for next week's semifinals, the show would be axing three of its remaining singers - almost half the field - after the latest round of performances. We spoke with each of the singers after the show to get their thoughts on that and other things. Here are some of the soundbites from the Top 8.

01) Kristen Merlin's not afraid to get emotional. Team Shakira's last remaining artist teared up during her perform...

'The Voice' Coaches Talk Before Season 6 Live Playoffs
Live playoffs for The Voice are just two weeks away - and so BFTV snagged a few quick words with coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher and Shakira about potential changes in their strategies, what they've learned from being coaches, and who might stick around for this fall's Season 7.

While you're watching tonight's battle rounds, know that yes, they really are as agonizing as they look on TV. "That's the worst part of the job," Blake told us. "Anything that's in between the blinds and the live shows sucks for coaches, because the first thing we do is beg these people to pick us and be...

Why 'The Voice' Can't Lose Adam Levine And Blake Shelton

4/5/2014 12:08pm EDT
Why 'The Voice' Can't Lose Adam Levine And Blake Shelton
Can you imagine The Voice without Adam Levine and Blake Shelton?

We can't either.

The Internet's been abuzz this week following the news that Pharrell Williams is signing on to NBC's Emmy-winning singing competition for Season 7. Everyone wants to know if the Maroon 5 hitmaker and the multiple CMA award winner will be joining Pharrell in those big red chairs this fall. The network, for its part, has only said that the identities of the other three coaches for the show's next cycle will be revealed "at a later date."

But there is absolutely, positively no way The Voice should go on withou...

'The Voice' Recap: 80's Night With Blake Shelton

3/5/2014 8:31am EST
The Voice
As we finish the second week of Season 6 auditions on The Voice, the teams are filling up. Defending champion Adam and Usher each have only 5 spots left, while Shakira is half-complete with 6 open spaces, and Blake is bringing up the rear, looking for 8 more artists. Who will the coaches discover tonight?

Maybe it'll be Megan Ruger, who looks like the distant cousin of Season 3's Michaela Paige. Megan performs "Just Like A Pill" by Pink, which gives her big shoes to fill, because the last person to audition with a Pink song was Season 5 champ Tessanne Chin. (It's worth noting that NBC cen...

'The Voice' Recap: Season 6 Blind Auditions, Part 2
In the first night of Season 6 auditions on The Voice, Team Blake picked up 1 of 12 singers, Team Adam and Team Shakira landed 2 and Team Usher a leading 3. There are still plenty of spots to fill, though, so let's get to it.

We start off with another returning artist, Delvin Choice, who comes armed with Donny Hathaway's "A Song For You." That piece was pretty much killed by Jesse Campbell in Season 2, but Delvin nails it himself, earning three quick button pushes from Adam, Shakira and Blake. Usher waits until almost the last moment, but he's finally persuaded, too. Delvin is understandab...

'The Voice' Returns For Season 6: What Have You Missed?
Tonight begins Season 6 of NBC's The Voice, but there have been plenty of happenings with past artists - and the coaches - since Season 5 wrapped in December. Before you tune in to the new cycle, read on to find out what you may have missed over the last three months.

The major news is that coach Cee Lo Green announced last week that he will not return for Season 7, marking his second departure from his big red chair. Cee Lo's best finish on The Voice was having the runner-up (Juliet Simms, season 2) - which Usher has already matched (Michelle Chamuel, season 4). No word yet on who will re...

1/28/2014 1:05am EST
Daft Punk Grammys
With so many great live performances at Sunday night's 56th Grammy Awards, it's been hard* whittling them all down to the five best. Well, the five best that didn't include any weddings, Broadway adaptations of Little Red Riding Hood meets Harry Potter meets Showgirls, or cut-off performances, that is.

The night was all about mixing the past with the present, and in some cases the past, present and future.

5. Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and Blake Shelton: 2/4 of the original Highwaymen with the legendary Haggard and modern Country giant Shelton wasn't the tightest voc...

The Internet is abuzz with the news that The Voice has announced its Season 5 finalists, but that's not all that's happening this week. We had several former competitors return to the show, a few more drop by just to say hello, and Blake Shelton crashed someone else's Christmas special again this year.

On Tuesday, four acts from The Voice's past two seasons came back to promote their new music, and we found out what they've been up to. Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope performed the next single from her recent album, and discovered that the album has gone gold.

When Carson Daly asked Blake Shelton and Adam Levine if they were cooking for Thanksgiving, we might've floated the idea of a Blake and Adam cooking show. And after you favorited and retweeted that on Twitter, we might've asked Blake about it. His response was typical hilarious Blake Shelton.

"If you want to make a cooking show that invol...

Morning Roundup: Jennifer Aniston's Wardrobe Malfunction, Blake
A new set of photos from Jennifer Aniston's latest film "We're The Millers" have been spreading like wildfire. The actress, who plays a stripper in the film, did some rehearsal shots in some sexy black lingerie and it turns out you can see right through the top. She also got a new hairdo, cutting her hair short, much like the wig her character in the film wore for the strip club scenes. (Story)

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were the big winners at last night's Country Music Awards (CMAs), picking up the Male and Female Vocalist of the Year awards, respectively. Florida Georgia Line and...
