Sham 69 were an English punk band that formed in Hersham in 1975 and went on to became one of London’s 'must-see bands.' Their first single, “I Don’t Wanna,” produced by John Cale (formerly of Velvet Underground) was released on Step Forward Records in 1977, and its success prompted Polydor Records to sign them. Led by the charismatic and irrepressible Jimmy Pursey on vocals, Neil Harris on lead guitar, Johnny 'Goodfornothing' on rhythm guitar, Albie Slider (Albert Maskell) on bass, and Billy Bostik on drums, they produced a stream of catchy, popular, short and sweet punk tunes including, “If The Kids Are United,” “Hurry Up Harry” and “Angels With Dirty Faces.” While ther...
