The Look found Shalamar incorporating elements of new wave pop into their stylized dance funk, as demonstrated by such glossy pop-funk as "Dead Giveaway" and "No Limits (The Now Club)." The sound is appealing on such uptempo numbers, but the ballads are slightly weaker, lacking strong, memorable hooks.
