Tupac Shakur's Broadway Musical To Close Due To Poor Ticket Sale
A Broadway musical based on the life of rapper Tupac Shakur is closing early due to disappointing ticket sales. "Holler If Ya Hear Me" opened at New York City's Palace Theatre on June 19 and will have its final curtain call on Sunday, July 20.

Producer Eric L. Gold announced the news on Monday, explaining: "We are so proud to be a part of this ground breaking production... My hope is that a production of this calibre, powerful in its story telling, filled with great performances and exciting contemporary dance and music will eventually receive the recognition it deserves.

A new movie about the life and times of slain rapper Tupac Shakur is set to begin filming in 2014.

Morgan Creek Productions will start shooting of the as-yet-untitled biopic in February in Atlanta, Georgia, and the late star's mother, Afeni Shakur, will produce. The screenplay will be written by Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft, and casting has yet to be announced.

In 1977, Joanne Chesimard, AKA Assata Shakur, was convicted of the murder of a state trooper. Two years later she escaped from prison and fled to Cuba. The now-66 year old has reportedly been advocating revolution and terrorism against America, ruffling the FBI's feathers.

Coachella's Two-Weekend Festival Was A Big Success, Promoters Plan Same Format For 2013

The two-weekend Coachella festival experiment was a big success - organizers are planning to stage the event over 10 days again next year.

Radiohead, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg and The Black Keys repeated headlining spots over two weekends last month and the line-up for both California festivals remained unchanged.

The idea proved to be so successful, it will be repeated in 2013.

No headliners or performers have been announced for the 2013 model, but organizers have confirmed the next Coachella will run from April 12-14 and April 19-21.

Dr. Dre has refuted rumors that the Tupac hologram that stunned Coachella last week was a test run for a future tour. In a backstage video, the venerable rapper says that the hologram was implicitly created just for Coachella.

"It was strictly for Coachella. Get it right. I want to get rid of all the rumors out there. This was not done for a tour," Dre says in the video, which was in part created to thank the tech teams behind the hologram.
