The Scorpions Consider World Cup Show

German rockers Scorpions are considering a comeback concert at soccer's World Cup finals in Brazil in 2014 - six months before they wrap up their farewell tour.

The Wind of Change hitmakers will wrap up their lengthy farewell in Germany in December, but guitarist Matthias Jabs has assured fans that he and his bandmates could well be back onstage within 18 months.

He says, "We were approached to play for the opening of the World Cup Championships in 2014. That is not confirmed, but those opportunities, we would not let slip away."

Guitar great Jeff Beck, the Foo Fighters and the Manic Street Preachers were among the big winners at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honor Awards in London on Wednesday night.

Dave Grohl's group walked away with the Band of the Year trophy, while the Manic Street Preachers were handed the Classic Songwriters prize at the ceremony, held at the English capital's Roundhouse venue.

Jeff Beck's lifetime achievements were recognized as he collected the Living Legend Award, following in the footsteps of previous recipients like Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop.

Jennifer Lopez cemented her music comeback on Tuesday as she accepted top honors at the World Music Awards.

The singer opened the show by performing a medley of her hits and was later named the Legend for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts at the star-studded event in Monaco. Lopez, who stepped away from the spotlight in 2008 after the birth of her twins, told the crowd the award was meaningful but is "just the beginning."

Lady Gaga was the night's biggest winner with a haul of five awards, but was not present to pick them up.

The Scorpions Are Kaput!
Legendary German rockers Scorpions are splitting up after 40 years. The Wind of Change hit-makers announced on their website that they have decided to walk away from the music industry while they are "on a high note."

However, fans of the band will get their chance to say goodbye - the rockers are embarking on a two-year farewell tour before hanging up their leather jackets.

German rockers The Scorpions became one of India's biggest live acts when they took the stage for a concert at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Wednesday night and performed for an estimated 30,000 fans. It's one of the biggest rock shows ever staged in India.

Scorpions star Matthias Jabs has hit out at fellow German rocker Michael Schenker's refusal to address his apparent drinking problems - because they're having a major effect on his band.

Jabs was backstage at the Rock & Blues Custom Show in England on Saturday, when guitar great Schenker was booed as he attempted to perform while seemingly intoxicated.
