Saturday Looks Good to Me
Saturday Looks Good to Me [CD Bonus Tracks]
Release Date: 2002
Label: Ypsilanti
Rating:

Saturday Looks Good to Me feels like a dream. Maybe it's due to the Phil Spector with a touch of Lee Perry production that creates a sound suitable for yesterday's AM radio. Maybe it's due to the odd electronic effects that dart in and out of the mix, like images from dreams that can never be fully grasped after waking up. Or maybe it's the songs: punk kids searching their lo-fi souls and worlds using a blueprint left behind by Berry Gordy's Motown. Whatever the reason is for its dreamlike quality, Saturday Looks Good to Me is a unique collection of talents and sounds, all masterminded by Fred Thomas of Flashpapr. The project's only peer may be Detroit's Teach Me Tiger, another venture that succeeds in looking back to create statements for the future. [The CD version included bonus tracks.] Matthew Kantor, All Music Guide
