Sam & Dave were a soul and rhythm and blues duo who performed together from 1961 until 1981 and consisted of Samuel David Moore (born October 12, 1935) and Dave Prater (May 9, 1937 – April 9, 1988). Sam & Dave were pioneers in music, bringing the sound of gospel church music to mainstream pop audiences. The duo picked up a number of nicknames throughout their career, such as “Double Dynamite,” “The Sultans of Sweat” and “The Dynamic Duo” for their energetic performances. Moore and Prater were immersed in the gospel music community of their families and churches when they were young, Prater also sang gospel in his local church choir and with the gospel group, The Sensational Hum...
