March 22nd, 2010 7:30pm EDT
Drake
Rapper Drake has brushed off a snub from Sade - he is disappointed the singer has refused to collaborate with him, but understands she has to "protect her brand."

The hip-hop star approached the Smooth Operator hit-maker last year about plans for a duet, insisting he was hopeful of hitting the studio with his music idol.

He told WENN, "There are conversations going on (between the two star's camps). I haven't spoken to her personally yet but my management is talking to hers and it's looking more yes than no right now, so I'm hoping we can get it done."

However, Sade turned down his of...

Sade Returns After 10 Years With 'Soldier Of Love', Out Feb. 9

January 28th, 2010 5:36am EST
Sade
"Soldier of Love" is only the sixth studio album the band Sade released during their 25 year career, and the first since "Lovers Rock" in 2000. For Sade herself, as the lynchpin of the group's songwriting effort, it's a simple matter of integrity and authenticity. "I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I'm not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand."

The call went out in 2008 for the group to re-convene at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio, near Sade's home in the countryside of south west England. It was the first tim...

Alice Smith is one of those extraordinarily rare artists who simply cannot be categorized. Her commanding, 4-octave voice, dripping with soulful emotion, brings to mind such historic and iconoclastic artists as Annie Lennox, Dinah Washington, Sade and Billie Holiday. She can hopscotch genres like a girl skipping stones, slipping and sliding through pop, jazz, soul, rock and even a hint of Broadway.

VIBE Magazine (March 2006) says, ""Passionate soundscapes that evoke Fiona Apple's finest material while showcasing her penchant for approaching pop rock with the conviction of a bluesy sou...
