Ruff Ryders was a record label founded by brothers Darrin Dean and Joaquin Dean and known for managing rappers DMX and The Lox. The company was a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, before disbanding in 2010.

After DMX's success, the management company started its own label imprint through Interscope Records, and had success with releases from rapper Eve, rappers Jadakiss, Drag-On and Jin. The Deans' nephew Swizz Beatz was the main producer for most of the acts on the roster. In 2001, Cassidy was signed to the label through Swizz Beatz along with Full Surface labelmate Yung Wun.

“Ryde or Die Vol. 1,” a compilation album of artists on Ruff Ryders Entertainment, was released in1999. It reached #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and featured the likes of Sheek Louch, Style P, DMX, Jadakiss, Eve, Swizz Beats and many others. A second compilation LP, “Ryde or Die Vol. 2,” followed in 2000. Debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200 it included Swizz Beatz, Snoop Dogg, Yung Wun, Scarface and Eve among many other. A third compilation, “Ryde or Die Vol. 3: In the "R" We Trust,” followed in 2001. It featured many of the artists on the previous compilations and reached #34 on the Billboard 200.

2005 saw Ruff Ryders release the compilation album, “The Redemption, Vol.4,” again featuring many of the label’s signature artists. It debuted at #40 on the Billboard 200. Jadakiss and Swizz Beatz invited Drag-On, Eve, Styles P, Sheek Louch and DMX, who had just been released from jail, to guest on the remix of their 2009 single, “Who's Real.” The label’s fifth compilation album, “Ruff Ryders: Past, Present, Future,” was released in 2011.
