Van Halen Shoot Down European Tour Rumors

March 13th, 2013 10:39am EDT
David Lee Roth
David Lee Roth is making plans to return to Britain with Van Halen for the first time since 1984 - but it appears he hasn't let his bandmates in on the deal.

The rocker claims he and the Van Halens are currently negotiating European dates for later this year - the band's first trip to the continent since 1998, when Extreme singer Gary Cherone was frontman.

Announcing the plans during an appearance on radio show Opie and Anthony, Lee Roth stated his band will play "probably 50, 60 shows" in Europe, but it seems he may have been a little premature with the tour news - the band's longtime ...

May 20th, 2012 10:59pm EDT
Van Halen
David Lee Roth has broken his silence about Van Halen's summer concert cancellations, insisting the scrapped dates have nothing to do with fights and squabbles.

The "Jump" singer posted a video online on Sunday explaining why the rockers have pulled the plug on 30 U.S. dates after their July 26 concert in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dismissing reports he and his bandmates are not getting along, Roth says, "The band is getting along famously, better than we have in quite some time."

And he insists that the group is just exhausted and desperate for a break: "As usual, we bit off way more than ...

David Lee Roth Breaks Up Fight At Van Halen Show

March 14th, 2012 8:49am EDT
David Lee Roth
David Lee Roth stopped Van Halen's show in New Hampshire on Tuesday night to break up a fight in the audience.

The newly-reunited band was playing at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester when violence broke out in the crowd, and after Roth saw the fans fighting, he halted the show.

The singer was in the middle of a cover version of Roy Orbison's Oh, Pretty Woman when he called out to his bandmates, "Wait a minute, stop, stop!" before turning to the audience and saying, "Knock off the f**king fighting. F**k you! What do you think this is, a f**king mosh pit?"

"You've got all the bes...

David Lee Roth Clears Up Van Halen's 'No Brown M&Ms' Concert Rider Story

February 20th, 2012 7:30pm EST
David Lee Roth
Did Van Halen really have a demand on their concert rider in the early 80s that said concert promoters had to pick through all the M&Ms in their dressing rooms and remove all the brown ones? Well, yes. And no.

Lead singer David Lee Roth explains that at the time when the demand was made to concert promoters Van Halen was one of the biggest acts in the country and had one of the most sophisticated stage setups to work with and the M&M's clause was worked into their contract for safety reasons.

The band and their management wanted to make sure that those in charge at each venue and the crew...

Sammy Hagar Unimpressed With Van Halen's Comeback Album

January 31st, 2012 9:57am EST
Sammy Hagar
Rocker Sammy Hagar has blasted his former Van Halen band mates' comeback album, revealing it left him cold and unimpressed when he heard it.

The band's former frontman was not asked to be part of the group's 2012 plans and now he's glad he missed out because he's convinced the band's February album will leave fans feeling cheated.

He tells Radio Metal, "What I've heard so far, I wasn't impressed with at all, personally... I think they chose to take the easy route and take some of their old stuff and re-record it instead of writing new songs... I don't think the fans are going to be happ...

I'm not really sure why you'd need me to tell you this, but based on the rumors flying across the Internet and the statements of your own manager, you're really thinking about leaving the most successful television series of the decade over some sort of personal insult. Or is it money? Nobody can really be sure what's going through your pill-filled head...

They say all good things must pass. David Lee Roth was out. Sammy Hagar took over. Then it was Gary Cherone for an eye blink. In 2008, that guy that Eddie Van Halen couldn't stand is now back in front. DLR in all his three-ring circus glory is back. Is this a good thing? Will it last? Will they avoid killing each other? Whatever your opinion, this was the near-original Van Halen lineup. The one asterisk would be the absence of bassist Michael Anthony. Recently fired, Anthony's bass was picked up by 16-year old Wolfgang Van Halen, son of ...
