The making of The Rolling Stones' classic album Exile On Main Street will be the subject of a new movie.

The big screen drama will focus on the rising tensions between frontman Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards during their work on the 1972 double album in the South of France.

The film will be based on Robert Greenfield's 2008 book Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell.

It is not the only Rolling Stones film that is in the works at the moment - Brett Morgen's documentary of the iconic band will be released later this year to mark the band's 50th anniversary.

Keith Richards has paved the way for a Rolling Stones tour by patching up his differences with Mick Jagger after poking fun at the frontman in his memoir.

The guitarist made a number of unflattering references to Jagger in his tell-all 2010 autobiography Life, likening him to an annoying mynah bird and suggesting he has a small penis.

Fans of the iconic rock band have been desperate for a series of concerts to celebrate the group's half-century landmark this year, and even guitarist Ronnie Wood expressed hope they will tour soon.

The Rolling Stones: 50 will hit shelves on July 12th, half a century after they made their debut at a club in London's Oxford Street.

Rocker Keith Richards is recovering "very well" after undergoing laser surgery last month to correct his failing eyesight.

The Rolling Stones legend has been suffering from deteriorating vision over the years, so to celebrate his 68th birthday in December, he underwent laser eye surgery at a London clinic just before Christmas.

His spokesperson reveals the star is now "doing very well" after the procedure.

The operation means Richards will not have to wear glasses or contact lenses any more.

Chiefs at Angel Radio, on Britain's Isle of Wight, were frantically trying to raise cash to repair a transmitter, which was struck by lightning in July.

The Rolling Stones are considering staging a massive London spectacular to mark the band's 50th anniversary next year, according to guitarist Ron Wood.

Plans for a 2011 reunion appear to have fallen flat as frontman Mick Jagger launches his supergroup SuperHeavy and Keith Richards breaks ground on a planned solo album, but Wood, who recently reformed The Faces without Rod Stewart, is hopeful the Stones will be back in 2012.
