Rumor Patrol: Lindsay Lohan's Storage Locker, 'X Factor' Star Leaving, More

12/16/2012 1:31pm EST
Lindsay Lohan
You can't go one week without hearing a ridiculous story involving some of your favorite celebrities. Thankfully, the Starpulse Rumor Patrol is here to sort out what's real and what's fake.

Lindsay Lohan's Stuff For Sale: Earlier this week it was revealed by TMZ that Lindsay Lohan's storage locker would be up for grabs at auction after the star failed to pay for the rental.

Verdict: False. A source told RumorFix that the storage locker will not be put up for auction. While right now it's a he said/she said situation, we're inclined to believe that if anything valuable was in the locker, i...

L.A. Reid
Music mogul Antonio 'L.A.' Reid is to quit TV talent show The X Factor after two seasons.

The chairman and CEO of Epic Records will walk away as a judge on Simon Cowell's show when the current season ends next week.

Announcing the news on Thursday, Reid says, "I have decided that I will not return to The X Factor next year. I have a company to run that I've kind of neglected. It saddens me a little bit, but only a little bit. I love Simon. We have a great relationship. We have fun together, we talk, we laugh, we do bad things, we're friends."

There has been no mention of who will repl...

Former 'X Factor' Judge Nicole Scherzinger Sizzled In Purple At 'Men In Black III' Premiere

5/15/2012 8:39am EDT
Nicole Scherzinger
Nicole Scherzinger was the hottest star on the red carpet at the "Men In Black III" premiere in Germany on Monday. She looked sensational in a form fitting purple dress that showed off her sexy curves. She wore large silver hoop earrings and black pumps.

In our opinion, she looked better than the newly announced "X Factor" judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. They appeared at the Fox network's upfronts in New York City on Monday, and Britney tweeted a photo of the two of them with Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.

Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were kicked off "X Factor" last season after rating...

Howard Stern Criticizes Simon Cowell For Hiring 'Train Wreck' Britney Spears

5/11/2012 10:10am EDT
Howard Stern
Howard Stern has slammed Simon Cowell for reportedly hiring Britney Spears for The X Factor as he fears the fragile star will be a "train wreck" on the show.

Cowell is rumored to have signed Spears as a judge on the show in a reported $15 million deal, and although he is yet to confirmed the news, his America's Got Talent star Stern is already angry about the singer's appointment.

Stern is worried Spears, who famously suffered numerous public meltdowns, won't be able to take the pressure of such a high-profile TV role and will have little to contribute.

He tells Access Hollywood, "Bri...

Demi Lovato In Negotiations To Join 'X Factor'

5/2/2012 9:24am EDT
Demi Lovato
After last season's underwhelming ratings for "The X Factor," Simon Cowell cleaned house by removing Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger from the judging panel. He also kicked off host Steve Jones.

In an effort to compete with "American Idol," "The Voice," and other singing competitions on the horizon (including ABC's upcoming "Duets"), Cowell brought Britney Spears on board. Now he's reportedly offering a spot to Demi Lovato to judge alongside Spears, Cowell and L.A. Reid.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lovato is in final negotiations for the job. Neither Fox execs nor Cowell have c...

Cowell has previously expressed his desire to sign both a male and female host to repl...

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that Spears' fiance and agent Jason Trawick is negotiating a deal, which could be signed as early as next week.

Britney sure has the star power to bring in viewers, but does she have what it takes to be a mentor to aspiring singers?

Janet Jackson was in the running as a potential judge, but reportedly bowed out citing previous commitments.

Cowell and producers are completely revamping the show. They fired judges Nicole ...

Janet Jackson Says She's Too Busy For 'The X Factor'

3/2/2012 8:21am EST
Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson has ruled herself out of the next season of The X Factor because she just can't work the show into her schedule.

The Nasty singer was one of the stars rumored to be in the running to take up a seat as a judge on Simon Cowell's hit TV talent contest following the departure of Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul after the first series.

She played coy about the job possibility during an interview with Anderson Cooper last month, but she has now confirmed she definitely won't be on the panel.

She tells E! News, "(I'm) very flattered that X Factor let me know that I was being ...

L.A. Reid Plays Down Whitney Houston Link To 'X Factor'

2/27/2012 9:15am EST
LA Reid
Music mogul Antonio 'L.A.' Reid has played down reports suggesting Whitney Houston was primed to become a judge on "The X Factor" at the time of her death earlier this month, revealing producers hadn't even had meetings with her.

The producer's "X Factor" co-judge Simon Cowell went public with news that Houston was being considered as one of the replacements for Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger on the talent show, but Reid insists the media have taken the Brit's comments out of context.

Reid tells WENN, "We love Whitney and we would have certainly considered it, but the truth is it neve...

Simon Cowell & Nicole Scherzinger Open Up About 'X Factor' Shake Up

2/8/2012 10:00am EST
Nicole Scherzinger Simon Cowell & Paula Abdul
Music mogul Simon Cowell fought to help his friend Paula Abdul keep her job as a judge on "The X Factor," but he was overruled by TV executives.

Abdul was dropped from the line-up of the reality show last month, along with fellow panel member Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones.

Antonio 'L.A.' Reid kept his place as a judge, and Cowell reveals he did everything he could to keep Abdul alongside him on the Fox series when negotiations began at the start of the year.

He told "Extra," "I would've liked to have kept her. She was very gracious and I said that to her. She understands it's b...

The two stars, who sat on the judging panel alongside Cowell and Antonio 'L.A.' Reid, confirmed the news of their exit on Tuesday.

Paula Abdul And Nicole Scherzinger Kicked Off 'X Factor'

1/31/2012 3:00pm EST
X Factor
The contestants aren't the only ones getting booted off The X Factor: Judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger have been shown the door, according to EW.com.

Perhaps the fallout surrounding Rachel Crow's elimination (Scherzinger infamously refused to vote, thus setting up a audience tiebreaker that Crow lost) influenced the singer's - or the producer's - decision. A source told EW, "She wants to focus on her music career. She's spoken to Simon [Cowell] and he's given her his blessing. X Factor took a lot more of her time than she ever expected. She didn’t have any time really to work on h...

The star has been working on the follow up to 2005's critically-acclaimed "Extraordinary Machine" for some time and was previously slated to release her new material in the spring of 2011.

The project failed to materialize, but now Epic Label Group boss Antonio 'L.A.' Reid reveals fans will be hearing from the singer/songwriter soon.

In a series of Twitter he writes, "Lot's (sic) of good music coming from @Epic_Records in the next few weeks. Stay tuned music fans. Welcome back Fiona!... YES Fiona App...

The teenager who became the X Factor's first winner has signed her first deal.

Melanie Amaro picked up a $5 million check when she won the talent show last month and now she's an Epic Records artist.

X Factor judge/mentor Antonio 'L.A.' Reid will now oversee her career as the chairman/CEO of Epic.

'The X Factor' Recap: Melanie Wins + The Year-End Awards

12/23/2011 9:28am EST
Melanie Amaro is announed winner of THE X FACTOR
Ordinarily I give shows like this the full mega-diary treatment, but ‘X Factor’ doesn’t seem worthy.

This show is a disappointment by most measures. To wit, last night’s show did about a third of the demo rating of ‘Idol’s’ finale last may. So, I can’t quite give this the full mega-diary. So instead, I’m going to whip out the first annual X-Factor Awards.

First, congratulations to this year’s winner Melanie Amaro. I look forward to seeing your Pepsi commercial and then never hearing from you again until you’re brought back as a musical guest for one of next year’s results show. Enjoy your...

The X Factor Recap: Stars Join The Contestants In A Ludicrous Finale

12/22/2011 9:36am EST
X-Factor Finale
There have been a lot of stupid ideas on TV: AfterMASH, giving Christopher Moynihan a second series, that dancing show where Paula Abdul stood on a huge globe, but last night may have been the biggest brainfart in the history of television – having the contestants stop their performances to introduce a duet with an established star.

Not only was this move distracting and off-putting, but it totally undermined the point of the competition. These are supposed to be discovered talents, not established stars doing duet performances, and that’s exactly what this move made them seem like.

'The X Factor' Recap: Breaking Down The Final Three

12/16/2011 9:19am EST
X-Factor: Breaking Down the Final Three
There are so many things I could write about last night’s results show. I could write about the super-awkward group number. I could write about the Youtube clips of the contestants’ families (seriously, they couldn’t send out a real camera?). I could write about Florence & the Machine destroying the world and making Nicole Scherzinger look like an early-round cast-off by comparison. I could write about how I watched the entire show in about 17 minutes thanks to the power of DVR.

I could write about all that, but it doesn’t matter because we have a final three! Let’s break down their chance...

'The X Factor' Recap: The Final Three Looks Pretty Clear

12/15/2011 9:48am EST
Top 4 Performance: Marcus Canty performs
In honor of last night’s Pepsi Challenge audience song selection, I’m letting my readers write the opening to this week’s column.

It’s easy, just write something snarky about the show in the comments section, and the best one wins $5 Million! Or a Pepsi. Or nothing. Yes. Let’s go with nothing. The winner wins nothing.

Ready? Comment!

Now I’ll get on with the recap…

Marcus Canty's First Performance: “I’ll Make Love To You” by Boyz II Men

LA Reid Said: I could not be more proud of you.

Nicole Said: You are bringing sexy back.

Paula Said: You are the entertainer of this group and you di...

'The X Factor' Recap: Rachel Goes Home In A Devastating Results Show

12/9/2011 9:25am EST
The X Factor - Rachel Goes Home
During my typical fast-forwarding through of the recaps of the previous week’s show and whatever pre-packaged piece of nonsense they force us to watch to get to “know” the contestants better, I began to wonder why I even bother to watch the results show. I could just as easily find out who got voted off, write a little tribute to them, put together the power rankings, and move on to tonight’s episode of ‘Beavis and Butt-head”.

As I fast-forwarded through my existential crisis, I quickly arrived at the real reason for watching this show: The save-me song.

This wrinkle is definitely the bes...

'The X Factor' Final Five Recap: It's Melanie And Everybody Else

12/8/2011 9:36am EST
Melanie Amaro performs in front of the judges on THE X FACTOR
In honor of ‘The X Factor’ truncating all the contestants’ performance in order to cram all ten of them into 90 minutes so there’s enough time for ‘I Hate My Teenage Daughter’, I’m going to truncate this recap’s intro.

See? It’s already over! Let’s get on with it.

Melanie Amaro's First Performance: “Someone Like You” by Adele

LA Reid Said: It was really good.

Nicole Said: You looked and sounded like the rock star diva you are.

Paula Said: It was too short. That’s my only complaint.

Simon Said: It wasn’t karaoke, it was doing something different with a track.

The Verdict:

I guess thi...

'The X Factor' Recap: Drew Ryniewicz Goes Home In A Shocker

12/2/2011 10:01am EST
Drew Ryniewicz Goes Home In A Shocker
It’s been a bad couple of weeks for the Molly Dewolf Swenson Scale.

One week after my favorite performer, Leroy Bell, bit the dust, my second favorite, Drew, left last night in a shocking result that didn’t even seem possible after it happened.

Why? Because Drew seemed like the clear favorite and every single step of her elimination – being in the bottom three, having to sing, having three different judges send her home – were almost dreamlike. It was like watching a heavily favored NFL team get upset. You see the touchdowns, but they don’t seem real as they’re happening. That’s what watc...

'The X Factor' Recap: Not Many Kings On Michael Jackson Night

12/1/2011 9:46am EST
Melanie Amaro performs in front of the judges on THE X FACTOR
I’m back again after a week off for Thanksgiving this time. Curse you, Turkey and your insufferable way of making me miss ‘The X Factor’.

Not to worry though. I will be here for the duration of this season. First, let’s get to my quick recap of last week.

I thought it was LeRoy’s best performance and I’m a bit dismayed to see him go. After all, he was this year’s winner of the Molly DeWolf Swenson Scale and I was rooting for him. I also think he greatly outperformed Marcus in the sing-off. Simon should have had the stones to keep him in there. Maybe it’s because he just hates Nicole enoug...

'The X-Factor' Recap: Stacy Leaves, Astro Throws A Tantrum, + Power Rankings

11/18/2011 9:32am EST
Astro Throws Hissy Fit on the X Factor
Sometimes I wonder how I’m going to fill even more than a few sentences about the hour-long list reading that is The ‘X Factor’ results show. Am I going to insult the performer? Am I going to remark for the 47,000th time how inane the group number is? Will I think of new ways to mock overgrown chin Steve Jones? It’s a constant struggle. But this week, I didn’t even have to think twice. All thanks to that pint-sized pile of poison that is Astro.

The sad thing is that I’d actually started to like Astro. His punkish audition was growing so distant a memory, washed away by his excellent perfor...

'The X Factor' Recap: Only A Few Really Bring It On Rock Night

11/17/2011 9:25am EST
THE X FACTOR: LeRoy Bell performs
I’m back after a week off for my sister’s wedding, and before we get started I should fill you in on what I thought of last week.

The three performances I really liked were LeRoy Bell, Melanie Amaro and (surprisingly) Rachel Crow who I thought flashed a voice I hadn’t heard from her yet in the competition.

The three performances I thought deserved to be voted off were Stacy Francis, Chris Rene, and The Stereo Hogzz. Stacy just picked a terrible song, Chris is still struggling with pitch and The Stereo Hogzz were just a mess. Not surprisingly, they got voted off.

And now that we’re caught...

'The X Factor' Recap: inTENsity Goes Home + Power Rankings

11/4/2011 9:29am EDT
Steve Jones announces that inTENsity has been eliminated
I’m pretty sure this is the first time it’s ever happened. In the too-many years that I’ve been writing about various singing competition shows, I don’t think it’s ever come to pass that the contestant (or contestants) I liked the least got sent packing on the very first show, but, for once, America got it right. Maybe it’s the advent of Twitter, maybe it’s the judge-centric format, maybe human fun-suck Steve Jones just created so much animosity, that people had no problem voting out children. Whatever the case, I’m glad they’re gone.

Speaking of simple text come to life Steve Jones, belie...

'The X Factor' Recap: A Few Hits But Mostly Misses From The Top 12

11/3/2011 9:40am EDT
THE X FACTOR: Top 12 Perform
I’ll level with you; I went to the barber today and asked them to give me ‘The Steve Jones’ and it took them 17 hours to make my hair that lifeless. So I’m a little pressed for time.

Let’s just get right to the contestant breakdowns, shall we?

The Stereo Hogzz sang “Rhythm Nation” by Janet Jackson

LA Reid Said: You absolutely have what it takes to be a star.

Nicole Said: The Stereo Hogzz have landed. I was watching that and was like, “What show is this?” (I didn’t think it was possible for me to hate a judge more than I hated Kara, but here we are).

Paula Said: I am so proud.

Simon Sa...
