Patti Smith To Appear On Flea's Fundraising Solo EP

Red Hot Chili Peppers star Flea has recruited punk icon Patti Smith for his new fundraising solo EP, which fans will decide how much to pay for.

Following Radiohead's ground-breaking sales concept, the bassist will release the Helen Burns project later this year and allow fans to pay what they want to download the tracks.

All proceeds will benefit the Silverlake Conservatory for Music school Flea founded a decade ago.

Axl Rose has officially apologized to Guns N' Roses fans and the city of Cleveland, Ohio, for turning down the honor of becoming a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Rose declined the induction into the Cleveland museum and announced he would not be attending the annual gala on Saturday in a letter to officials last week.

And now he has penned another lengthy essay to "Cleveland, Ohio, Guns N' Roses Fans and everyone who's shown support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame" and posted it on the band's official website.

The Beastie Boys were forced to scrap a planned performance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday night when rapper Adam 'MCA' Yauch pulled out of the event.

The trio was saluted by rap heavyweights Chuck D and LL Cool J but only Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz were on hand to accept the accolade.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have rescheduled their next tour to allow frontman Anthony Kiedis time to recover from foot surgery.

The band was due to begin the U.S. trek with sold out shows in Florida at the end of the month but Kiedis and his pals have pushed back the shows.

The frontman was spotted hobbling around Los Angeles earlier this week, but he's expected to make a full recovery by the time the Scar Tissue hit-makers hit the road again at the end of March.

The Beastie Boys Inducted Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Guns N' Roses, The Beastie Boys, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have all won coveted places in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The bands led the shortlist to join the famed Cleveland, Ohio museum in April, and they have now been announced as the official 2012 inductees along with late singer/songwriter Laura Nyro, Donovan, and the various incarnations of British band The Small Faces/The Faces.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Donna Summer, and Rufus with Chaka Khan were among the acts who missed out on the honor.

The induction ceremony will take place on April 14th.

Red Hot Chili Peppers star Anthony Kiedis has banned his family from reading his tell-all memoir - because he bored his soul in the book.

The Under the Bridge singer released Scar Tissue in 2004, and the autobiography details his long and harrowing descent into drug addiction, which he finally overcame in 2000.

A screenwriter accused of harassing former Red Hot Chili Peppers star John Frusciante has been ordered to stay away from the rocker for two years.

The guitarist claims August Elizabeth Thomas approached him with a request to write a film script about him but has since sent the musician letters, visited his home in Los Angeles, and showed up at concerts where his wife Nicole Turley was performing.

Frusciante filed a legal request for a restraining order, and on Wednesday a judge in L.A. granted the application, according to TMZ.com.

Late The Who star John Entwistle has topped a new online poll to find the best bassist.

The rocker, who died in 2002, beat out Red Hot Chili Peppers star Flea and Paul McCartney in the Rolling Stone readers survey.

In naming Entwistle the top man, the publication's editors state, "His solo on My Generation is probably the most famous bass solo in rock history."

"The Who have carried on since his sudden death in 2002, but their music has lacked Entwistle's thunder and been considerably weaker as a result."

American rocker and painter Captain Beefheart has died at the age of 69.

The star passed away on Friday, according to a representative for the Michael Werner Gallery in New York. His exact cause of death was unknown, although he had long been suffering from multiple sclerosis.

Born Don Van Vliet, the singer rose to fame in the 1960s with his own style of blues and rock, later influencing artists such as Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
