Prong re-emerged after a five-year hiatus with a new lineup, tour, and subsequent live album. Singer, guitarist, and main songwriter Tommy Victor teamed up with some hired guns for the purpose of mining the band's back catalog -- and 2002's 100 Live is a return for one of metal's most overlooked and wildly creative acts of the '90s. Although the live set's sanitized production gives the feeling that it was pieced together from various recordings and songs like the barnburner "Broken Peace" from the classic studio album Cleansing are compromised by flat fidelity, "Dark Signs," "Cut Rate," and "Close the Door" offer some punch. The lone new song, "Initiation," features solid, typically minimalist riffing, and sounds like a Cleansing outtake. John Serba, All Music Guide
