10 Music Myths People Still Believe

June 22nd, 2014 12:55pm EDT
Beatles
Some of the greatest music myths are those that pass through generations and are still fresh and new to each set of ears that hears them. The best of the best are funny, mean and downright outrageous. But hey, you have to be pretty high on the popularity scale to get one of these things said about you, so myth or not, all press is good press. According to Webster's, a myth is a "a widely held but false belief or idea." So in no particular order, here are 10 of the greatest music myths people still believe, even after all these years.

1. Elvis Is Still Alive!

This one is one of the old...

12 Dead Celebrities People Love To Believe Faked Their Deaths
Sometimes we just don’t want to believe a loved one is gone. The same is true for some celebrities, especially after they die under odd circumstances. There will always be a slice of the population that believes these celebrities faked their death for one reason or another.

Kurt Cobain

Despite evidence Cobain committed suicide, the rock legend continues to be the target of conspiracy theorists. In one of the most bizarre theories, it's believed Cobain faked his death and continued to live as Rivers Cuomo, lead singer of Weezer. Why? Cuomo appeared in the music scene soon after Cobain's de...

Popular Songs You Won't Believe Are Actually Covers
There are some cover songs out there that artists perform so well you forget someone did it first. We bet there’s a least a handful of songs on this list you thought weren't covers.

Dazed and Confused - Led Zeppelin (Jake Holmes)

This song actually has a pretty nasty past. Jimmy Page heard the song performed by Jake Holmes, who was opening for the Yardbirds while Page was a part of the band. The Yardbirds then bought a record of the song and copied it while adding new music for all of their instruments. While mostly reserved for live shows, it was included on a live album – and was the ...

Mormon rocker Brandon Flowers was shown a sacred text previously belonging to Elvis Presley and was stunned to see notes and messages from the rock 'n' roll icon written inside.

Lil' Wayne can now say he's bested Elvis Presley - at least when it comes to the number of times he's been on Billboard's hot 100.

The Sacramento Bee reports that Lil' Wayne's latest guest appearance on The Game's "Celebration" marked the 109th time he has appeared on the top list. Out of the 109 songs, 49 of them are Lil' Wayne tracks - the rest are guest appearances.

Presley has 108 songs on the list, which debuted in 1958. Arguably, if the list was started earlier, Elvis' total would be even higher.

Lil' Wayne still has a ways to go if he wants to be #1. The cast of Glee has the most ...
