Birth Place: Los Angeles, California, United States
Years Active: 1992 - 1998, 2009
Genres: Alternative Rock

Porno for Pyros was an alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 1992, from the ashes of the famed band, Jane's Addiction. The band comprised of former Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell on vocals and Stephen Perkins on drums. The duo recruited Peter DiStefano on guitar and Martyn LeNoble on bass and released two studio albums: “Porno for Pyros” (1993) and “Good God's Urge” (1996). The band dismantled in 1998 after guitarist Peter DiStefano was diagnosed with cancer.

Porno for Pyros embarked on a national tour before their debut album was released, in support of the new band, and new sound. As momentum built, and fans swarmed to the band's live shows, their debut album peaked at #3 on Billboard's Hot 200 Albums Chart. The album was met with mixed reactions from fans: The Jane's Addiction fans weary of the new band's sound because it didn't sound like Jane's Addiction, and new Porno for Pyros fans were not sure what to expect. The band continued to tour heavily, landing a spot on the Woodstock 94' festival. The band followed up touring with their second album, “Good God's Urge” in 1996. Shortly after the album's release, the by bass player LeNoble departed the band; Mike Watt filled his spot. Again, the band embarked on a heavy touring schedule in support of the new album, with guest appearances from ex- Jane's Addiction guitarist Nave Navarro. However, touring was cut short when guitarist, DiStefano was diagnosed with cancer. The band disbanded while DiStefano focused on treatment. 2009 saw the original line-up of Porno for Pyros: Farrell, Perkins, DiStefano, and LeNoble together again, performing at Farrell's 50th birthday party.
