Plain White T's Solve 'Delilah' Mystery

August 8th, 2007 9:58am EDT
Plain White T
American pop-rockers Plain White T's hit summer anthem was inspired by an Olympic steeplechase hopeful. Front man Tom Hinggenson was driven to write former U.S. number one Hey There Delilah after falling for athlete Delilah DiCrescenzo when they met four years ago in Chicago.

He recalls, "I was blown away by her, she was so gorgeous. I told her I had written a song about her but the next day she went back to New York to college. She had a boyfriend so it was just a dream."

"A year later she returned to Chicago for Christmas and I took her the CD. But nothing happened because she...

Lovedrug On Tour In Support Of Sophomore Effort

March 19th, 2007 9:30pm EDT
VH1 Behind The Music fans can attest: the ol' upstart indie band on a major label story goes south with a quickness. So we should have seen it coming when Columbia Records upstreamed the Ohio-based whippersnappers in Lovedrug. Their '04 Militia Group debut, Pretend You're Alive, was a hit with mall-loads of kids, and after its euro-minded guitar rock won over a large enough audience, the big whigs came calling. But as the time-tested VH1 narrative goes, instability and a revolving door of key figures at the label took its toll. Our heroes in Lovedrug remained unfazed, though, and deftly sli...

The Hard Lessons Are The Next Best Thing To Come Out Of Detroit

February 14th, 2007 11:00pm EST
The Hard Lessons
Somewhere between the rawness of the White Stripes, the power of the Foo Fighters, and the hip factor of Death From Above 1979, is Detroit's most promising new act, The Hard Lessons. Fronted by Detroit's modern incarnation of Ike and Tina, the band's tracks come on like an unexpected face-slap. With a sweaty live show rendering crowds and critics across the country "vanquished and sated," and a critically acclaimed debut album, Gasoline, The Hard Lessons are poised to take over the world. Dangerously exciting and addictively fun (get out a pad and paper), this is rock n roll music!
