Dolly Parton has defended her "honorary goddaughter" Miley Cyrus over her raunchy new image - insisting the teenager is just "trying to find her way."

The 17-year-old Disney star has hit headlines in recent weeks with her saucy onstage antics, which have included flashing her flesh in revealing costumes and simulating a same-sex kiss with a female dancer as she promotes her new album Can't Be Tamed.

However Parton, who has known the youngster for many years, is adamant Cyrus is just going through a rebellious phase and she shouldn't be judged too harshly.

Parton tells Fox News, "I've ...

Dolly Parton once lost a Dolly Parton look-a-like contest - to a man.

The country music queen decided to have some fun and thrill her gay fans by showing up to a Dolly Double party in Santa Monica, California and was stunned when she missed out on the top prize.

She says, "I just kinda over-exaggerated everything I am - bigger hair, bigger beauty mark, bigger boobs... and I thought, 'I'm gonna go down to the club...' They were marching across the stage, the look-a-likes, and all these drag queens were at least six-feet tall with their high heels and here comes this little... I guess they ...

Not the least of those accomplishments is her litany of hit songs and signature compositions spanning five distinct decades...

Underrated & Overrated Movie Songs

We all know the real reason we go to the movies. It isn't the thrills or the chills, the laughs or the gaffes, the drama or Lorenzo Lamas, no; we all hit the theater to hear the music. That is, we love to hear the one big song associated with any film.

The marriage of music and movies has long been exceptional. Whether it's "Theme From a Summer's Place" or "Blame Canada", nothing raises a film's enjoyment factor quite like a good tune.

Problem is, most songs simply aren't that good. A lot of these film tunes come from a great movie and are thusly mistaken as great music when i...

Lopping off 30 minutes is a start, but isn't nearly enough. At FOX's up-fronts last week, the network's executives made the startling announcement that "American Idol's" results show will be limited to a half-hour next season. A great cheer rose up from "Idol" nation at the news, as this will surely limit the time for ex-contestants pretending to have music careers on the nation's biggest show.

Of course, this news was met with a drop of cynicism. Lisa de Moraes of The Washington Post wrote that FOX's announcement of the time reduction was simply the executives' "way of reminding us ...

The nine remaining contestants on "American Idol" Tuesday night welcomed talented country singer and songwriter Dolly Parton to the stage. Though a household name to many, the contestants seemed to find it difficult to fully connect with a song. Maybe it was the county theme that tripped up many, or maybe it was that Dolly Parton's songs are not among the most familiar to today's generation. Even the judges, particularly Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, fell victim to the twang and giddiness of the country selections, criticizing nearly every performer who took to the stage.
