Noah Benjamin Lennox (born July 17, 1978 in Baltimore, Maryland) known as Panda Bear, is an experimental musician and a founding member of Animal Collective. In addition to singing, Lennox plays drums and occasionally guitar in Animal Collective's live performances. Lennox started using the name “Panda Bear” because he drew pictures of pandas for the artwork of his recordings.

Lennox's debut album “Panda Bear” was released in 1998 on Soccer Star Records and is considered the first Animal Collective related release.

After focusing more on touring and recording with Animal Collective, he released the follow-up “Young Prayer“ in 2004. The album was produced and mixed entirely without Lennox by Rusty Santos and the rest of Animal Collective. Notably, none of the songs on the album have a title because Lennox wanted the album to be one continuous sound.

His highly acclaimed third solo album “Person Pitch” was released in 2007. Five of the seven tracks on the album were released prior to the album, some of them with different mixing and/or lengths. “I'm Not” and “Comfy in Nautica” were released together as a double A-side single in 2005. “Bro's” was released as a single on Fat Cat Records in late 2006. “Good Girl / Carrots” was released in early 2007 on a split 12” with the band Excepter via Animal Collective's own label Paw Tracks (on the single, the song is called, simply, “Carrots”). “Search for Delicious” was featured in 2005 on Volume 14 of music magazine “Comes With a Smile's” CD compilations. Finally, “Take Pills” was released as a 7” single in June 2007.

Lennox's fourth album “Tomboy” released in 2011 on Paw Tracks. The album debuted at #5 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart, #6 on the Alternative Albums chart and #29 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. This marked the first entries as a solo performer for Panda Bear on the Billboard charts. Singles from the album, which like his previous album were distributed by various labels prior to the album’s release, included “Tomboy” and the b-side “Slow Motion,” “You Can Count on Me,” “Alsatian Darn,” Last Night at the Jetty” and “Surfer's Hymn.”
