Former President Bill Clinton Tried To Get Led Zeppelin To Reunite For Hurricane Sandy Benefit

May 7th, 2013 11:54am EDT
Bill Clinton
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton tried to get Led Zeppelin to reunite for the first time since 2007 for last year's Hurricane Sandy benefit in New York City.

Clinton tried to convince Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones while they were in Washington D.C. last December for the Kennedy Center Honors.

Davide Saltzman, director of the Robin Hood foundation, which organized the 12-12-12 concert at Madison Square Garden, told news show "60 Minutes" Sunday night that he and movie producer Harvey Weinstein put Clinton up to the task.

"There were two bands that we were trying desperate...

Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant
Robert Plant has sparked new hopes that a Led Zeppelin reunion is possible next year, by saying he has "nothing to do in 2014".

The lead singer for the greatest rock band in history (somewhat arguably) recently did an interview for Australian news program 60 Minutes, hinting that he's open to hitting the road with surviving bandmates Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.

Zeppelin regrouped for a one-off concert in 2007 -- a tribute to music producer Ahmet Ertegun held at London's O2 Arena, and perhaps the hottest concert ticked ever.

The band released the show on Blu-ray and DVD last fall, onc...

Rocker Jimmy Page has reiterated there are no plans for Led Zeppelin to reunite onstage even though the bandmates have come together to promote the concert movie release of their one-off concert five years ago.

Page and bandmates John Paul Jones and Robert Plant have been routinely asked about another reunion ever since the Ahmet Ertegun tribute show in London - and just when the fuss was dying down, the trio announced plans to release the concert footage as new movie "Celebration Day."

Reteaming for a press conference in London last month, the bandmates seemed a little irked that the reu...

Review: 'It Might Get Loud'

It Might Get Loud
Somewhere out on a farm in the middle of Tennessee stands Jack White, dressed as Jack White and with familiar Jack White stage manner, standing at a table with various (and somewhat random) items: a wood block, a glass bottle, a wire, a nail and a hammer. What does this have to do with guitar playing? Give him two minutes. He assembles the parts together to make a diddley bow*-- when was the last time you saw one of these-- and then punches some wildly astonishing wails out of it, before finally turning to the camera and asking, "Who says you need to buy a guitar?"

If this is the way dir...

Rudolph and Krasinski have a wonderful chemistry as husband and wife and engage in hilarious interactions with the other couples in the movie. Krasinski plays the role of Burt with a dopey charm that's hard not to love.

When the first Guitar Hero was released for the Playstation 2 in November 2005, it was met with both critical acclaim and a lot of buzz: a video game that substituted a simulated guitar for the standard controller? Take, for example, the setlists. The original game, with a mere 47 songs, was composed of almost entirely cover versions. Guitar Hero II, on the other hand, contained 64 songs, four of which were actually recorded by th...
