Owl City is an American synthpop musical project by Adam Young. Owl City was born from Young's musical experiments in his parents' basement in Owatonna, Minnesota. As Owl City, Young developed a following through MySpace before signing with Universal Republic. Young's influences are disco and European electronic music.

In 2007, Owl City released an EP titled “Of June,” followed by the 2008 release of the album “Maybe I'm Dreaming.” “Of June” reached #15 on the Billboard Electronic Albums chart, and “Maybe I'm Dreaming” peaked on the same chart at #13.

Owl City's second full length album, “Ocean Eyes,” was released in 2009, and reached #8 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. “Fireflies” was released as the album's first single and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.

“All Things Bright and Beautiful,” Owl City's third album, was released in 2011. It went to #6 on the Billboard 200. The first official single released from the album was “Alligator Sky,” which featured Californian rapper Shawn Chrystopher.
