Fans of 1970s pop star Donny Osmond will have to wait to see him strut his stuff on the TV dance floor - he won't be among the contestants on the new season of show Dancing With The Stars.

Osmond revealed he was "considering" following in sister Marie's footsteps and signing up for the program during a TV interview at the beginning of the week, but now he insists he won't be a part of the new show, which debuts this spring.

He says, "I'm definitely not doing this upcoming season."

Osmond will focus on her off-stage life as a single mom-of-eight on new show Marie, after finalizing a deal with WNBC to air the program debuting in the autumn. Donny Osmond won't take to the floor on the upcoming Dancing With The Stars season on U.S. TV - because he is still waiting for an invite to the show.

The Puppy Love singer hinted that he was set to follow in his sister Marie's footsteps by waltzing his way to an appearance on the hit talent series.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Brother-and-sister entertainers Donny and Marie Osmond are extending their variety show at the Flamingo Las Vegas for two more years.

The hotel made the announcement Monday. Flamingo President Don Marrandino cited the success of Donny and Marie's 90-minute greatest-hits multimedia show, which opened September 9.

They will continue to appear at the Flamingo Showroom through October 2010. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Donny and Marie took over as Flamingo headliners after Toni Braxton's show ended in April due to Braxton's health concerns.

Donny and Marie Osmond's father, George, has died. He was 90. Osmond Snr. passed away at his home in Utah on Tuesday morning, and lived a happy life right until the end.

Family spokesman, Kevin Sasaki says, "I spoke to (youngest son) Jimmy Osmond and he said his father had a great day yesterday and was in good spirits."

George Osmond married his wife Olive in 1944 and they went on to bear nine children - including sons Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Donny, who found fame as part of The Osmond Brothers.

He is survived by his brood of children. Olive died in 2004.
