The Dreamgirls movie soundtrack has completed its steady rise to the top of the U.S. album charts after five weeks, by claiming the new number one with just 66,000 copies sold. In one of the weakest sales weeks ever on the U.S. Billboard chart, "Dreamgirls" registers the lowest sales total for a number one album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. Former boyband star Omarion has claimed the first new U.S. album chart-topper of 2007 after debuting his 21 album at number one on the new Billboard countdown. The album sold 119,000 copies in its first week on release to topple rapper Nas' Hip Hop Is Dead, which slides to number four on the new chart.
