Prince Royce and Don Omar Dominate the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards

Puerto Rican singer/rapper Don Omar and singer/songwriter Prince Royce were the big winners at the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday after scooping eight prizes each.

The stars' massive haul included the Artist of the Year prize for Prince Royce and Best Album for his self-titled debut, while Omar's accolades included 2012 Song of the Year for his hit Danza Kuduro.

The prizegiving, held at the BankUnited Center in Miami, Florida, also featured success for Colombian singer Shakira, who collected four awards, and rocker Mana, who scored five.

Don Omar and Pitbull are set for a big night at the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards after landing 30 nominations between them.

Omar leads the way with 16 nods in 14 categories, including Songs Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year and Latin Rhythm Albums Artist of the Year, while rapper Pitbull is only two behind with nominations for Songs Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year and Tropical Songs Artist of the Year.

Also chalking up double figures among nominees: Prince Royce with 12, rockers Mana with 11 and Romeo Santos and Shakira with 10.

The fact that I'm even writing this review speaks to the quality of the Fast Five soundtrack. It dropped last week (May 3), but I've enjoyed listening to it so much that I wanted to feature it anyway.

If you've listened to the soundtracks that were put out for The Fast and the Furious series previously, you know what to expect with this one. Don Omar Cleared Of Drug And Gun Charges

Reggaeton star Don Omar has been cleared of all drug and weapons charges in relation to an incident dating back to 2004.

The 30-year-old has been on trial in a court in Carolina, Puerto Rico for the last two weeks, after he was arrested in September 2004 by drug enforcement officers, who claim to have found him and two pals smoking marijuana. The agents also allegedly found a gun and $1,200 in cash in his possession.

But the case was dismissed by a judge on Tuesday following conflicting testimonies from two police officers, reports

Reggaeton star Don Omar faces mixed fortunes in 2008 - he's planning a wedding and now faces a court appearance. Omar has learned he'll have to make an appearance before the Puerto Rican Supreme Court, where he'll face alleged drug and firearm possession charges.

He was arrested on September 7, 2004, by drug-enforcement officers in Carolina, Puerto Rico, after they found him and two pals smoking marijuana. The agents also found a gun in his possession.

A court date has yet to be set. Omar has still to name a date for his 2008 wedding with his fiancee, Jackie Guerrido.

Engaged reggaeton superstar Don Omar has been hit with allegations he performed sado-masochistic acts with an Argentine prostitute last month. Don Omar denies the claims the woman, named Natalia, made during an interview on Telemundo TV show "Al Rojo Vivo."

The hooker claimed Don Omar paid her to have sex with him three weeks ago, when the 29-year-old hitmaker was in Buenos Aires. Dubbing the star "a sexual machine," and "well-equipped," Natalia revealed Don Omar was so satisfied that he requested a threesome with another prostitute at a second sex session, which never materialized.

Puerto Rican pop star Don Omar has been arrested on Bolivia accused of swindling $70,000 from a concert organizer in the country. The 29-year-old reggaeton star and two others were interrogated for four hours by prosecutors in the city of Santa Cruz, before appearing before a judge. He was later released after an undisclosed agreement was reached with the plaintiff.

Omar is accused of canceling a concert scheduled to take place in the capital La Paz last year. According to reports, Omar backed out claiming organizers didn't send him flight tickets to Bolivia.

Atlantic Records has set August 29th as the street date for the eagerly anticipated label debut from Latin rap superstar Tego Calderón. Released on Calderón's own Atlantic-distributed Jiggiri Records, the album is already being hailed as a landmark in the Latin hip-hop and reggaetón movement.
